i wouldnt give that race much credit, who the hell is driving hahah
even if it is faster in a straight line, the whole turning thing was never a big concern for the "big three" gtr all the way |

The GTR beat both the z-06 and the 911 turbo by over 5 seconds at buttonwillow according to I think it was car and driver's testing. I care not what car is the fastest in a straight line, the GTR OWNED the living hell out of the z-06 at buttonwillow.

yeah what the hell is "gulf spec"?
my thoughts exactly. america can make them go in a straight line, but after that...they get a little lost. (and its not like i have a biased, japan only, viewpoint.. just about any country BUT america can build a car to handle.)

Actually as far as professional road racing goes (which is all about handling) the united states and europe are leaps and bounds ahead of japan. Look at the le mans corvettes and the audi r-8's. Both of those cars DOMINATED the endurance racing world for years and as far as I know they still do, although I don't really keep up to date on racing anymore. Nothing from japan could touch either of those cars with a 100 ft pole! Also look at what GMPP did with their cobalt at the super street time attack a few years ago (the cobalt was designed by the vette design team by the way)! That car is an order of magnititude faster than any FWD car that has came here from japan, and I personally think it could easily take the FWD record at tsukuba. The current corvette is one of the most capable racing platforms in the world and anyone who decides to argue against that is a moron and obviously has never seen a LIGHTLY modded vette on r-compounds decimating all at a track event.

There is a such a wide production of so many different cars its hard to be specific...but a very easy subject to gossip about. Being a huge car enthusiast I like them all.

Maybe American cars couldnt turn 20 years ago, but if you still think America cant make a car that turns you should pull your head out of your ass. The fastest production car to EVER lap the Nordschleife was a Corvette. The fastest FWD to EVER lap it was a Cobalt. Need I mention the Top Gear episode about the Cadillac CTS-V?

I know the new vette can handle a turn, but it seems people are ignoring the fact that it just got its ass handed to it and now throwing "omg look its faster in a straight beat that" in the mix.
both cars rock

AND THEN the GTR owner discovered that his car had turbochargers that forced more air into his engine which he could augment for more boost pressure / the end.
Seriously... that isn't a big difference he hung there for a good what 7-10 seconds. Reflash. It increases the boost (Z06 can't do) result changes and leaves a ''??? face'' for Mr z06 owner . Seriously if that's your deciding factor on buying this car you aren't very wise in that subject. |

The rawness of the 7.0L of N/A power was to much for the GTR, more boost or not. If you want to use the forced induction vs. N/A argument then let's put a supercharger on the Z06 and compare again. |

i'll give credit to nissan in making the gtr. they did a greta effing job. but comparison is so difficult between cars of different origin. they are built so differently. bring in the clk black series against both those cars and that will give them a greta run for the money. but they are built differently. having driven the z06, the aforementioned black series, and the turbo. they are all fanf***ingtastic in their own rights. havnt driven the gtr, so i have no comment, only paper opinions which are no good in real life.
