With timing light on the crank pulley and the spark pickup on the number one wire, I checked where it was firing in relation to the timing mark. It was off so I rotated the distributor to bring it back in. It was off more than that so I pulled the distributor rotated it like one tooth in the direction I needed and then checked the timing. Using the timing light, I saw it was closer, so I rotated the distributor and got it to where I wanted. (Repeated this process a few times)

It was a bit confusing at the time, but it started to make sense. Without a timing light, it is going to be quite hard to determine when your engine is getting spark.

I think your other option is to align the timing marks on the timing chain and then reset the distributor. You would still need a timing light to bring it into spec.
well this is all i could find Ka24e Timing Off? - Nissan 240SX Forums

i never took the timing chain off so the crankshaft and valvetrain should be dead on as it was before..but when i replaced the oilpump i did take off the spindle and dizzy without putting it back in the same specific order...

could you kinda explain how this gun works? i would have to go to autozone to get it later on tonight

you have never used a timing gun before?

the gun flashes when the number 1 spark plug ignites... you aim it toward the crank pulley and you can see what your ignition timing is at...

Just bought a new car. 91' Hatch. Idiot kid snapped the left rear license plate bolt. And the other bolt hole apparently won't take a bolt since he's a fucking idiot. How do I go about changing the license plate bolts out?

Especially that snapped one that's still in there.

Not true.

If you are cranking and getting a spark, the timing gun will work.

First, timing gun basics: there is a spark signal wire that clips on the #1 spark plug wire; there is a power that clips onto the positive battery terminal; and a negative that clips onto the negative battery terminal or any chassis ground (any metal really).

Second, using it. Hook the gun up. When you crank the car, every time the first cylinder gets its spark, the timing light will flash (flashlight type light is emitted). While it is doing this, point it at the crank pulley to determine where it is firing in relation to the timing marks and the timing indicator arm/thing. (Have someone crank it while you watch the timing marks.)

If you don't see the marks on the pulley, you'll need to adjust your distributor. If it's way off (like 180*), it will need more correction than just turning the distributor. You will need to pull it, spin the distributor a bit, re-install it, and re-check the timing.

You can buy or borrow an easy out kit. Basically you drill the center of the bolt and then this "screw looking drill bit" goes in that hole and backs out the bolt for you

does anyone know or know where i can find the dimensions for a zeta II seat.
I have an offer on the table to trade my zeta III type L for a zeta II but im scared i might not fit in the zeta II
i wear a size 36 and the type L fits me nice and snug but not uncomfortablly and since this is my daily i dont want to get something that will make me hate driving my car.
all of my searches have only turned up with dimensions for brides newer seats.
And if there is anyone around the fresno area that has a zeta II that i could test out that would be great.

With the combination of NRG's short hub and gen 2.5 quick release, is the steering wheel exactly in the OE position?

From the Nardi website:
(DEEP CORN)
350 mm = 80 mm offset
330 mm = 53 mm offset

Is this offset (concavity) the same for their entire lineup of concave wheels (i.e. Sport Rally), and is this measurement from outside face to outside face of the steering wheel?

Thanks

hope this helps, as I did not fully understand the difference. Most people that I have seen get a "drift" alignment stay around the 6.5-7 degree mark.

Pro drivers please chime in to correct me if I am wrong.

That thread just confused the hell out of me... i understand all the other suspension adjustments except caster. I can't get even a close grasp onto caster. Thanks for the thread tho it helped with other stuff.

im going to say no i think you need atleast 25mm to clear the stock studs/back hub of the wheels, if you use 15-20mm a small amount of the stock studs will stick out and hit the wheels
