Compustar makes probably the most reliable and high quality alarms. DEI, Viper, etc all seem to be just lower quality, esp when it comes to remotes.
and WHATEVER YOU DO GET A 2way....no one cares if a car alarm goes off. YOu're the only one that cares so you need to make sure that your alarm can tell YOU that someone is messing with YOUR car. This means have them put the antenna for the alarm on the front windshield so it has the best range. Sure it's ugly but better an ugly antenna in the window and me knowing my car is being jacked vs a purty windshield and a loud siren and everyone just going about their business Personally I have a stupid setup with CompuStar Pro P2W9000FMR (remote start) w/ shock, glass break, tilt, ultrasonic sensor, door trunk hood pins, battery backup, battery backup 2nd siren, fuel pump cutout, trunk popper (base models have no remote cable and a window module just for convenience. only thing left to do is wire in a relay for the a/c so that I can make sure it's on in the summer when i remote start it Pretty much overkill, but my boys at the stereo shop did it as a hookup and a "because we can" install for the shop.

oh yeah dont let the haters fool you into thinking alarms are useless. Doesn't do much good to be packing a bazooka if you dont know when to use it
That said, anyone want to loan me their bazooka?
