$5 for anyone can solve my KA problems!!!
Ok heres the deal. My car runs extremely rich, I average about 12-14 mpg. Also my car can NOT hold idle when I am off the gas. I have to heel toe at every stop light to keep the car running. The car backfires sometimes and rough idle at startup. Sounds like my car has some huge cams.
I ran the codes and got: 34 - Knock sensor 45 - Leaky Injector 92 DOHC The only mod is an exhaust. The person who suggest the correct fix will get $5!

You need a one or more new injector o-rings. They tend to go out fairly often on KA's.
Best way to check it to unplug each injector while your car is running and take note if any don't make a change when you pull one. Also do the same to your spark plugs. by pulling one by one and listen for a prominent clicking.

even easier way to check is simply pop open the oil filler cap and take a sniff. if its flooding you'll know right away.
wouldn't drive it like that. my guess is oil + gas with the consistency of water doesn't really lube engine parts all that well |

do your upper and lower injector seals/o-rings. Be sure to put LOTS of lub on them. Something other then egine oil if possible. Just do all 4 injectors. Doing them 1 at a time well just make you more and more pissed when the next one goes.
If you have a really rought Idle do a cylinder balance test. Pull 1 plug wire at a time, if you notice a no change in the idle, that cylinder is missing/not doing enought work. If the car pretty much dies that cylinder is good.

Sorry man, my grandpa was in the Hospice program and he was acting up so I had to go to the hospital and stay the night there with him. I've been driving my dads car around. I have managed to buy the throttle cleaner and injector o-rings though. I will get to it ASAP. People are starting to come visit my gramps at the hospital so I have to take care of out town family tonight. I can provide proof if you want.

i had a similar problem, especially with the leaky injector. Lots of lucas fuel cleaner fixed it. the second s13 i had with that problem i had to take out the 2 injectors that were leaky and clean it for it to stop.

I bet you have a short to ground in your knock sensor wire, meaning the shielding has broke threw and grounded out your signal wire. Best bet it to check voltage at teh ECU with teh key on you should see 2.5 volts anymore or less indicates a problem, must likely you will see less than 2.5 volts for a short to ground.
Your code 45 is most likely do to your problem with the knock sesnor as I just described above. |
