So I'm Paitnning my car... not not with a roller

Hey guys I saw the roler paint thread and it inspired me to paint my car. I mean yeah the roller paint looks clean and all but I am not paitent enough to wait 7+ days just for paint so Im paitning my car. I got a gun, and a compressor, and I got access to all the materials I can ever need. so WTF why not do it right huh?? the cool thing its all going to be done in my garage. this is day one. I got most of the dings out and sprayed coat number one of primer to let it dry overnight

(sorry for the crappy qualaty pics)

So you're not not painting it with a roller? Double negative... have fun with your roller job haha

I was in a similar situation, so I just said fuck it and painted it. No prior experience or anything, but it turned out pretty all right. Good luck bro...

I just finished painting my car and what a pain in theass. it turned out all right but i still have a lot of color sanding to do. I still saved my self a fortune. I did all the body work and masked the car. and had a body shop spray the car. still what a disaster. oh yeah good luck.

careful

Yo man, careful using the newspaper as a cover, the paint may wet the paper enough to have the ink run through and you might get paint all over your windows. Well, juss' lettin you know, goodluck with the job!

Yes, use masking paper, or paper grocery bags. Newspaper is too thin. Also, make sure to get all the hard to reach places wih your primer and paint i.e. the area around your lisence plate you missed the first time.

Are you painting the door jambs? Trunk? Engine bay? Did you roll your fenders before you started painting?

Hey guys thenkas of rthe support..
Midnight Zenki: I'm using a big ass compressor probably about 6ft tall. (40-60 gal maby?) and a gravity feed Paitn gun not sure what brand and specs but works well

as far as using the news paper for masking its only for primer, I knwo i missed the licence plate area he he woops. btu I looked over all my mistakes in the first spray and it turned out Ok.

That Guuy: yeah Door jambs, Trunk and Engine bay are painted already no fender rolling for me I dun got money for that big of a baller rims yet. and here are some updates on day two:

afyter letting the White Primer dry overnight I sprayed some grey bottle primer over it like so:

after that dries i Blocked it with 150 gritt to expose all of the uneven ness and to my surprice the primer filled in most of th uneveness due to them being so small.

others I had to puddy them in (still waiting for bondo to dry as I type)
but thre was not much to do bumping dings out wise. I hope to do my second coat of prymer today but today with Polyprimer. then Tomarrow PAINT!!!

Looking good. I hope you cover all the shit on the side because it WILL get full of paint dust. Trust me, that shit gets everywhere, i know from painting my bike frame. Luckily it doesnt stick, its just like dust, but it's still a major PITA.

Anyways good luck with painting it, its a long ass process!

Even if you don't have rims that require rolling, it's always a good idea to roll before getting painted, so you don't have to deal with it down the road...

Yes, this is why I mentioned it. Not for current wheels, but for the future. It's always worth it to plan ahead.

Im assuming you put a filter on your compressor before the spray gun, otherwise you can wind up with moisture in your spray

before you paint your car, if your picky about your floor, try wetting down your floor so that the paint doesnt stick to the floor. and then once it dries you can just sweep everything off. btw why did you unmask your car if your not done painting it? what dupont paint are you using? hopefully not centari lol
