I was wondering if anybody here(with an S13 fastback) has swapped thier stock taillights out with the Mk V Supra tailights? I live in Okinawa and saw a 180sx with them installed and it looks awesome. If anyone has done this, I would like to know what mods to the body, wiring, etc. have to be done. Thanks.

whoah, that's gotta be tricky. 240sx's have a wide ass, supras get narrow up top. to get it to look right you'd prolly need to replace your entire rear end, fenders, bumper (duh), light section, and most likely the full hatch. If you're gonna swap tails, loook at the 180sx tails, they look pretty slick and are more or less a direct swap.

Just to clear some details up:
1) Gen 4 Supra is also known as A8 or MKIV - not MKV. 2) Supra's back end is wide, that is why the supra tails look good on that car. The 180SX, isnt so wide. 3) The 93-96 tail lights differ from the 97-98 tail lights. Now. The 240/200/180SX's come with short tail lights.. so I feel you should keep that look. The S13 silvia however, has long tail lights. So.. I think they only have potential on the coupe. Harp has the 1/2 red 1/2 clear Supra tail lights that we sold him (clearcorners.com) and he had a very large amount of body work done to his S13 convertible. The finished look is nice, but this all depends on the amount of time and money you dump into body work. - Mike / ClearCorners.Com ps: We only modify the Supra tail lights, we dont actually sell a bolt-on version that fits on the 240.. thats insane. SO, the bottom line is.. its a shitload of work for something that may not give as nice of a result, as lets say, 180SX tail lights or a set of nicely modified 240SX tails. |

Look at the inner trim peices, 93-96:
http://clearcorners.com/products/toyota/supra8/R_sig/Image01.jpg 97-98: http://clearcorners.com/products/toyota/supra8/R_sig/Image02.jpg No, its not the color.. its the actual design of the trim peice. One sinks in, the other is more flush. - Mike |

argh no!
leave the supra lights alone, let ricers do that crap to their civics and accords. if you must get new lights, what about the kouki lights??? Those things are badass, AND they came on 180sx's. Leave toyota parts on toyota cars |

My brother in law, who lives in Okinawa also has not seen the 180sx kouki lights we see on all these 240sx's hatchbacks over here. I tried to see if he could get them and he told me the same thing this guy is writing the lights on the 180sx (our 240) are on the Supras overthere.......strange, but he can't find them only for Supras. He's never seen a pop-up light 240(180sx) over there they only have the standard set lights on the coupe (Silvia). Just thought I'd fill all you U.S. fellas in on a little info. Oh yea, he's tryin to find them though.

Hey man!
Toyotas are awesome cars!! Before you do that Supra swap consider this. I swaped a set of Supra tails onto my 1992 Nissan pickup. Seemed really cool at the time. And when I look at my truck it still looks pretty cool. But not as cool as I tought it would be. And the ass end of a 1992 Hardbody doesn't look quite as nice as the ass end of an S13. So before you and screw up your car with something that seems cool. Remember that all things that seem cool, might not be cool later!! Thats why I bought my 240SX!! Got tired of looking at this!!
This was right after it got out of the body shop
So this pic should prove that maybe Supra lights don't belong anywhere but a Supra. How about this, sporty tail lights should ONLY be used on sporty cars? 240SX coupe tail lights wouldnt look good on that truck either..
nothing looks good on that truck, except for stock tail lights and an RB motor in the bed being HAULED to a workplace to be installed in a nice sports-cars. - Mike |

Hey!!! Thats not nice!! I spent a lot of time on that truck. Unfortunatley as time went on I got sick of it! Because you are right. I tried to make something cool that just couldn't be. And wasted a lot of money at the same time! Oh well!
Best of luck to my 240! Jeff 98 SE. |

I realize and apologize for being rude. You know how being on lists is, we often run our mouths much more than we need to.. especially since there is so much criticism on these fucking forums.
Anyway, I understand where you are coming from.. I'de probably do the same thing. I take pride in anything I own, wether its a truck, 240, or a beater.. its all love with me. BUT, I'm sorta stuck in my own world of not appreciating cars UNLESS they are sports-cars. I like trucks and stuff, but I think they should be TRUCKS. Trucks dont have fancy paint, they are designed to be off-roaded and abused! If I had a truck, #### it'd be a monster for sure.. not a pretty one with nice paint.. let alone sporty supra tails. But again, this is all aimless criticism.. just my stupid opinion, so dont make much of it. I dont care for sports-cars that are over-babied either.. because they should be driven, and driven hard too! But, I can understand an NSX being babied more than a truck. Because shit, I could've definately needed a good truck to haul my motor into my garage last month.. I dont think an NSX would be able to do that! - Mike

Quote

Quote: from duderiffic on 55 am on Jan. 20, 2002 Hey!!! Why not try GTR tail lights if you are going for that kind of look... that I have seen done and at least it is nissan with nissan.... but to anyone who said that toyota sucks... well if ignorance is bliss they are some happy people. Lol.
