Acceleration high pitch noise from motor

So I have this noise coming from my motor (i think since its from the engine bay) and I have no idea what it is. It occurs when I accelerate between about 2k - 3k rpm. It's a high pitched noise when I throttle but doesn't occur when it's in neutral. Noise occurs throughout all gears, but not as much when in first. I thought at first it was pinging from low octane but I've been pumping 91 for a while and no change. It's also not a vacuum leak. Any help? Thanks.

*edit* I have a ka24de

My ka24e does the same, kind of. When I drive from 2k-3k rpm, the engine starts getting unusually loud as it approachs 3k. Similiar to your problem, it occurs in all gears. Maybe it has something to do with our compression.

A slipping belt perhaps? 2500-3000ish is when the belt will start slipping on the water pump pulley when you have a bad fan clutch.

Maybe someone installed a supercharger while you slept one night

I'd check the fluid level of you PS pump.

i have the exact same problem with my m30. vg30e.

i changed the power steering setup so it isnt that.

if worse comes to worse. take a belt off one at a time on your motor, if you dont hear the noise after you take certain belts off you then found your problem.

Look at adjustments of the belts. Check for slack also look at wear of the belts as well. Maybe also clean your pulley a little as well.

Check oil levels of tranny and engine, hopefully those are all ok...
