Wipers stopped working, mysterious corrosion!?

So my wipers randomly stopped working the other day. I went to look at the wiper motor and found this corrosion...





any idea what could've caused this?
how can i clean this gummy substance off?

try electrical connector cleaner and a tooth brush.

it seems as if alot of hondas/toyota/nissans all use a terrible di electric grease that turns into a nasty gooey mess of crap that seems to work great for years but after it has run it's course of 16+ years this is what you will have as a result.

I say use brake cleaner and a wire brush/bristle brush and clean it like hell and simply re grease the connector with new di electric grease.
