S14: making the corner lights into turn signals
I searched on google, and I have not found my answer. Basically, I am trying to turn my corner lights into turn signals. I have read that there is a product that you can purchase to do this (pbm and some other company).
I was wondering if I splice my turn signals into the corner lights, will this happen? -once that is done, the corner light would be parking light/turn signal. -If I click it once, it will be a parking light. -if I click it twice and signal left or right, the corner would blink? -once it stops blinking, the corner light will stay on? the reason why I am asking is this because once I pick up my aero, I might shave the turn signal and side-markers. I plan on getting clear corners. if not, I guess I can just make a hole and tape the turn signal inside and run a LED bulb for the corners.

Taken from "The 12volt.com" for all your car electrical needs.
You could have each corner light blink when each turn signal blinks by interrupting current to the corner lights when the turn signals are on with an SPDT relay for each side. Connect the lead that shows 12V+ at one turn signal lamp to terminal 85, connect terminal 86 to ground. Cut the lead that shows 12V+ on the corresponding corner lamp and place one side to terminal 30 and the other side to terminal 87a (doesn't matter which one goes to which). Repeat for the other side. When your turn signal is on your corner lamp and turn signal will flash alternately (while one is on, the other will be off). If you want the corner lamps to flash at the same time as the turn signals, you'll have to connect the lamp side of the cut corner lamp wire to terminal 30, connect terminal 87 to a fused constant 12V+, and insulate the other end of the corner lamp lead. Leave terminals 85 and 86 connected as described earlier. If you had something else in mind, just let us know. |

I personally want to remove the bulb from the turn signal alltogether so that it's just wires, would that work? I obviously still want the corner light to be on, but to flash when the turn signal switch is activated. I don't have turn signals, just the wires for them right now.
I guess I'll buy the relays though, and mess with it and figure it out. |
