We are working on a revised dreadnought setup that will have this new valving/piston like the 510's. We also are working on a double adjustable setup as well!

It is true most high end shocks such as penske, moton and ast use a 44 or 46mm piston. The difference is that they are designed to be allowed in specific racing series and many series such as ALMS dictate a 46mm piston. In our circles such as drift and time attack there are no regulations on piston sizes. Does a larger piston dictate that its better then a smaller one? Well not always. For example if you take a 46mm moton shock that has a base valve that allows you to run lower nitrogen pressures and really excellent digressive piston design along with some of the best machining in the world. A slightly larger shock does not always mean superior. The only advantage a larger shock provides is superior damping control and superior heat control. However in my opinion that is not what makes our shocks superior to most in the $1000-$1500 price range. It all comes down to the piston design and shim stack configuration. The larger diameter is a nice added bonus but not the defining characteristic of a better shock. |

I was wondering, if I were to go to a higher spring rate, would I have to send my coils in to get them revalved or can I just throw them on and call it a day?

not 100% positive but i remember reading somewhere that you can go up or down 2k in spring rates and not have to revalve. i've never done it before so i'm not positive lol. just remember reading that.

Sweep graph of 510 series shocks we just built for our Civic Time Attack car. This is the same exact product you get when you purchase a set of 510 series shocks! Notice the low speed knee at 325lbs. That is crazy low speed rebound force for amazing control of driver inputs. Then the force quickly blows off for a compliant ride handling bumps and rough pavement beautifully! You can not find a shock graph like that for shocks that cost less then $3500....well except for now
These are valved for 12k and 14k rates. |
