I just read today that in a nissan plant, a car goes from being disassembled to driving on its own in only 18 hours.  Honda is next with something like 20 hours, and then all domestic car plants are in the 20's.  I was wondering.... is this really a good thing?

Well... I'm going to take that to mean that they've perfected their production techniques <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>. Did you hear anything about toyota?

yes it is good, like transient said, it just means that they have found ways to shorten the production process, resulting in lower cost and the ability to meet market demands in a shorter period of time.
