Everytime I see one of those donks, it reminds me of San Francisco Rush for Nintendo 64, the cheat code you can put in to get those big ass tires. Anybody else know what I am talking about?

I always wandered on the ones that are not body lifted, how they turn? With rims that big turning radius has to be screwed.

I always wandered about the extra stress applied to the motor and trans from those heavy ass rims and tires. Or are they really not that heavy?

How the hell do you get in and out of some of those that are ridiculous high? I am 6ft 4 and alot of them look like they would be a bitch to get in and out of. Chin ups? Rope ladder? Pole vault? Park next to an equally high building and make a baller roof entrance?

What about roll over? They cant be real steady on hard corners. I bet if you take them too fast it will make your butt hole pucker from the feeling of taking it too hard and almost tipping.

It has to throw your speedometer off, or does it?

How bad is the ride quality?

They turn just like any other car. It is more difficult, but it can be done.

Yes the rims are that heavy and due add stress. I once saw one, where I heard the engine struggling to move, due to him being on a slightly incline. Some donk builders (and by builders I mean in the same way you would do a 240) upgrade the engine and the tranny to handle the extra weight. Check rides for details.

I have friends who drive donks, several of them actually. They were friends before they got into them and something as trivial as will NOT shake me off of people I have known 20+ years, as is the case of my friend Wil -- who built my girlfriend's computer for me on a MAJOR hookup -- and has a candy green 73 Impala.

Funny thing, though. They love and respect my car in all of it's unfinished project glory. They know I am not into them pouring cash into raising their cars and sticking 26" wheels under them, but they don't try to push their opinions off on me just the same.
While I feel the cars are in poor taste, I can respect the grind of all that goes into working on them knowing what it takes to push limits and such. It just won't ever be for me... "Live and let die," I always say.

They're doing this to body-on-frame cars (GM B and G-bodied cars usually), so parts interchange matches that of Chevy/GM trucks, makes for a fairly inexpensive, but quite sturdy lift with a wealth of possibilities and available parts... In such, you can expect them to turn like a truck, if only on a shorter wheelbase... If one cannot adjust their driving to turn the car they're driving, then they don't need a license.

and yes i totally agree, people like us that live in the bay or areas where we are regularly exposed to this type of car/person combo have usually had negative experiences or conotations associated with the type of person. but like in any clique there are bad and good people.
The problem IMHO is..... MTV! it has given alot of people the wrong sense of entitlement that allows people to feel that they are better or more deserving of something and have every right to step on anyone neccessary to get what they want. And the ghetto aspect portrayed by channels like MTV and BET dont show anyone that there can be a positive outcome from living the life they want not just living up to some false standard presented by our government and associated capitalists that just care about lining their pockets no matter who gets killed beneath them.

ROFL about being scared to go into the hood where the donks were sighted. You could be a corn ball looking white kid and roll up to a hood meet with donks and if you have a 240 with big wheels,aero, exhaust and other shit they will come over and talk to you. they are just into cars as much as most every other car enthusiast, they just have a different line of work. At least around here they do. most guys around here are cool. they may sell dope, they maybe college grads with cushy jobs, but that dont matter at the spot.

In fact, it seems that more import drivers are snobby to them than they are to anyone, quite honestly. I mean, I guess I have it a bit easier being a black dude who grew up with most of the donk drivers, but I have witnessed them just up and speaking to people, perfect strangers, with other automotive interests as well.
Fuck, I may take the camera for a ride tomorrow afternoon and see if I can't catch a couple at some carwashes.

That is similar to how it is here, except that on the east and south sides are where all 3 housing projects are, so that is where the black people and/or dope boys will be in them, even those in the nicer neighborhoods miles away from them... Once on the other side of downtown, on the north and west ends, is where you will find the white guys in them.
The mexicans down here are still in low riders and pickup trucks, sadly stereotypes almost always hold true, and I won't go there.
The Mexicans over in Winston Salem, though, their cars are done, whether they drive donks or hydraulic/bagged cars, they do their shit with better taste than -- I would argue -- better taste than any of the others in the state. The fact that people take THEIR cars to them for the work shows that too.
I won't fall off into a race war, though. Even though there are SOME whites and Mexicans in them, mostly black dudes wheel donks down in NC.
