S14 Hood Latch Cables -- DIY Fixes?

Ok, so the S14 hood latch cable doesnt exist anymore, and mine is destroyed. Has anyone successfully made their own from cables and stainless housing? Like bike shop components?

What'd you need? Any special ends?

You can still buy the JDM version. Perhaps you can couple them together in some fashion to work. I don’t really see a reason it wouldn’t work as is.

They almost look like bike brake cables, the ends are about the same size. Couldn't hurt to try to have one made to a custom length, since it's going to be way longer than a mountain bike cable.

It would be nice to have one slightly longer so it could be routed outside the engine bay anyways. In Nissan's infinite wisdom they made so many parts the same design in slightly different dimensions for different cars back then it wouldn't surprise me if one from a maxima or frontier or something worked. Let us know what you come up with.
