These threads always turns out to be about bragging, "I got my S13 for $2" kind of thread. That doesn't help the op too much. Be realistic, decent DOHC S13 goes for about $3k these days.

This is true. I'm in San Diego, and I had to wait 7 months to find the 240 that I wanted.
I paid $2700 for an unmolested white five speed '93 s13 coupe SE, with all the features, S14 seats and a Border 3 Exhaust. Your best friend is Craigslist San Diego, Orange County & Los Angeles. Expect to spend ~$3k for a clean DOHC. |

it depends where you live
they were a lot less than now since the whole drifting scene has put a "drift tax" on them. I know when I was looking for an S14 the only stuff that was cheap was junk ( rust, dented, dirty ). until, I found my car the owner had 18'' sportmax wheels decided to buy it without the wheels didn't get the best deal but I got exactly what I wanted ( clean in-out s14, 5spd )

I got the shaft on my first 89' piggy hatch. I paid 2200 in 2004 and the car had dents and the gauge cluster didn't work. It had 220,000 on the odometer. But I wanted it and I loved that car. It had the KA24E and drove soooooooooooo good. Ended up selling it to my buddy for $700 and threw in the motor from my new piggy.
The one I have now I got for 1000. It had 175,000 on it. Some of the cluster functions didn't work bit it was owned by an old lady that really took care of it. The only OEM stuff that I had to take care of to get it street worthy was the windshield that had a crack all the way down and I needed an new alternator and that was it. I also got a hole welded on the frame on the drivers side right before the wheel well. Damn snow/salt driven cars. With the knowledge I have now, I would not pay over 1200 for a minty s13. Just aslong as the motor works and you can drive it for another 20,000 miles or so its all good. We all will end up modifying it so no sense in spending more than you have to. 2 months after I got it I dropped 10K and got all the basics done. |

$1100 for a single cammer
$1500 for a twin cam deduct $500 for an automatic. I'd be willing to pay more for a two-tone or lavender frost coupe or a Silver-green fastback. I've managed to get alright deals on mine white zenki fastback 5-speed base model 60k miles $1300 green two tone coupe XE auto 100k miles $500 totally beat gray 5-speed twincam 170kmiles $1300 If you want an S-chassis for cheap, you should go ghetto cruising. |

this some kinda bragging thread? seems difficult to get such deals nowadays...
what do you guys think my car is worth? 1991 hatch 5sp with 176k, white on black, all original paint and body, one owner with all records, seems to have been meticulously taken care of. new ignition stuff and other tune up stuff, good clutch and suspension and bushings. just replaced the carpet and seats myself, all fresh redline fluids, no cracks in dash or anything like that. oh and all stock for now! |

I wouldn't pay more than $2200 for a stock dohc.
I seem to remember a time when you could a garage kept se for about $1500. Now I see people asking $4000 for a stock base model? Weak. |

Fact is the real truth is what I stated above and sometimes people asking more. Single cam cars are going for $1500-2500 as well. Lots of people want to brag about what they paid. The thing is if you count up the number of people that got good deals vs the average price, you will realize they are a small minority. Reality check people!

ka24e<150k=1700
ka24de<130k=2500 or less dam this sucks im in the same boat as you, my first 240 was an 89 hatch i got for 1500 with 150k miles on it. it had a super clean body just shitty paint but eh interior was perfect too. anyways i sold it for 1200 due to headgasket issues now i wanna try something different like a coupe and wow its so hard to find one. so many with 200k+automatic+drift ready package=3000. im finally starting to find some clean ones around me for 2k or less with no more than 150k miles so hopefully in the next couple of days i should have a 240. oh and merry xmas |
