RB25 cam options
Im doing mild build on my rb25 which includes the usuals. I am however thinking about while I have the head off throwing in a set of cams. My HP goal is 450/500 so which cams would you guys recommend that would help improve my power band but also not require any aftermarket valvetrain parts. The only valve train parts im getting new are valve stem seals. I was looking at the tomei poncams 256 but are they really going to do anything for me or just cause valve float on stock valvetrain>?

The guys at RawBrokerage can provide excellent advice on anything RB related. Tomei Poncams are install and go. If you are running 15+ psi boost (I'm assuming you will be for 500 hp), they highly recommend using aftermarket valve springs to prevent valve float. Tomei Procams are more aggressive than Poncam but I believe they will require some head work. The bigger cam lobes won't have enough clearance to spin, so a metal grinder must be used to clear some space. Procams also require solid lifters.
