ok just bought myself an 89 two tone coupe
i just notice last night that the cluster lights wasnt on but everything else was on and working, like rev meter gas gauge temp gauge. headlights ok/interior lights ok/tail lights ok
checked fuse and were ok
did not check that one white box yet (will get to it)
blown bulb? just a bad cluster? headlight switch?
hvac lights ok too
and again everything works except when headlights are on and the cluster lights arent. plus when headlights are turned on clock seems to dimm out?
any suggestions?help me this is gonna be my dd.

ah, I am having same problem with this hatch i just bought. cluster lights and heater control lights don't come on. its weird because all the fuses are fine and interior lights still come on. one thing i did notice was that the backlight for the lcd clock is normally on but as soon as i turn on my headlights it goes off. making me think its more than just the bulbs. whats this white box business?

where are the fuses for those? i cheched my owners manual and i couldnt find it. fusebox is of no help either - really old. my HVAC lights dont shine

I'm having the EXACT same problem right now. But I did change my TCU and it's still the same. Wtf?

when i bought my car it worked fine. iuno what happened after lol. i been trying to figure this out as well.

Same problem, when I wiggle one of the cluster connectors from the back my cluster lights up though, so it may be a bad connection in my case. Although I cant get it to stay on for the life of me.

just got mine working last night. it was a fried tcu box. i took it apart and found a bad circuit, it was causing my cluster lights and hvac lights to not work. now all i have to do is find out why my headlights wont pop up when i turn the switch on the stalk. they still turn on with the switch, but i have to raise them using that other push button switch.

ok so i took out my cluster checked it.
cluster only lights up when its warm outside or have been parked outside in the sun
it would work then but when its cool it wont work at all.
maybe just a bad cluster.
