Good luck becoming "Army Strong".
Take care of yourself, and make sure it is what you really want to do. By that I mean, make sure you REALLY want to be a Soldier. If you're only signing up to get money for college or to run away from something, then I count you a fool. Again, good luck. Note: These pictures should be in the Picture Thread.

Personal Experience talking:
If you're only in the Military to collect "tuition fees", then you don't really care about your job in the Military. If you don't care, you don't try hard enough. If you don't try hard enough, you FAIL. Again though, I truly wish you the best of luck.

thats somethign i would of done different..i wish i would of gone AF lol..i went army..nah they give you orders deciding on where they need you...but for all active soldiers when you first join they give you a "wish list" paper of where you would like to be stationed..not 100% that you would get...but who knows..i think also determining how long you've been in..your rank..if you have a family..it may alter where your duty station may be

Anyways, I'm a lifer...I just re-enlisted again 2 months ago. I'll be in 14 yrs when this next around comes up. Holding my breath I get to stay overseas the rest of the way. Got another year left here in Okinawa, hopefully I get my ass up in the mainland or go to Germany. As far as random photos, here's a couple military related that I got from personal experience: Giant MRE meals...that hunk of meat is "chicken", its called Captain Kangaroo Chicken. No fucking clue why...didnt want to ask. It tasted like Tuna tho. Lets get ready for a desert deployment by having an exercise in this: One reason not to go to Japan...Cat 5 Typhoons: What happens in Iraq when it rains: What we Air Force are issued in the desert cuz the Army are worried we might accidentally shoot them: What it looks like in Iraq during a fucking Sandstorm: C-RAMs in Balad...gotta love them... |

depends if u go with rotc or OCS. I dont think OCS candidates get a choice but ROTC u get a wish list of branch and location. Your chances basically depend on your grades, PT scores, and how well you do during summer camps

Yah its definitely sick...till you realize that you're breathing that shit in. That thing hangs around for days, not hours. Imagine breathing and eating it. You get so much dust/sand in your mouth that you start cotton mouthing from it.
The fun part is trying to keep shit clean after...last thing you want breaking that HD TV you have in the shop to watch football games in. |

for background, i'm an Air Force officer that went through OTS. we did get to fill out a dream sheet. most of the guys in my OTS flight got something on their sheet, usually 1 or 2. i got Dyess as my first assignment. i'd never even heard of it before i got the assignment. so you get to "pick", but E Double is right, the wants and needs of the Air Force come first. you can start to work the system once you get in it. i took a year in Korea (awesome, BTW) so i could come to Colorado. luckily i have a trump card now, "if i don't get an assignment to germany, i'm getting out".
some AFSCs are only at certain bases. what are you going for?

I've been in the Air Force for 14 years this year. Only 6 more to go to retire. I've been fortunate to get every assignment I've wanted. I love my job. It has become the chair force for my current position, but I plan on working on the jets again in two years. Right now I'm teaching younger troops how to fix them. I joined because I wanted to travel the world on the Gov't. That I have done and have enjoyed 98% of my career thus far! I'm also attending online college to work on my degrees.
