OK guys, I think I've decided on an S14 for sure. I've got a semidecent budget to do immediate work with.. more than enough to purchase the car and do the S15 SR20DET and transmission swap.
But I can't seem to decide what to do first with the rest of the money. My options, as I see it, are either doing the entire interior or doing the exterior and a little interior. I know alot of you guys are probably purists and hate the idea of adding a system and all, but this is a show car for my business.. it needs to be a real attention grabber. -- Anyway, so interior would basically be a fiberglass redo of the entire air conditioning/stereo piece of the center console to house an LCD, a single DIN Alpine headunit that plays DVDs, and housing for my fuel controller, boost controller, and turbo timer.. real sweet looking. Then a set of Sparco Torinos, the backseat replaced with a weld in rollcage, the trunk pulled apart and replaced with fiberglass and MDF for the amps and a couple of 10"s or 12"s and the heart of the navigation system, all misc junk related to the seats (harnesses, harness pads, etc), new steering wheel, short shifter, pedal covers.. the works. The expensive part would of course be the stereo, especially the fiberglass redo of the trunk sincei t's supposed to be show quality. The other option is to do exterior first. This is what I'm leaning towards because I want to get the entire car painted, and it'd just be a PITA to get the car painted as is and then get each piece painted and so on.. not sure what bumper/skirts/rear I like, but it'd defiantely be an S15 style conversion with a CF hood.. the rest is just whatever suits me. Then the entire car would be painted.. and there wouldm ore than likely be enough left over to do the center console piece of the stereo (which is a plus since it's going to house the boost controller and so on) |

I would go for interior if it involves a turbo timer, plus its cheaper compared to exterior. But why S15 SR? I would go with S14 or even S13 to save some money.....esspecially since this car is for show. (why?)
I'm in the same situation (kinda)...I'm going for power first and looks second...because my car looks badass just the way it is.

Well, honestly I'm not sure why the S15 SR.. but this car isn't just for show. I intend to build the best mother of a track car I can.. but that's without sacrificing creature comforts.
If there is really no difference between the 3 except price, I'll probably end up with the S14 SR.. but I'm hung up on the S15 transmission because it's a 6 speed and the others are not (to my understanding) |
