Yes but they added "Tire Deformation" physics. Which will blow GT5 out of the water, that is unless polyphony delays the game another 2 years to add it.....

Hate that quotes from other forums don't translate here......
[quote user="Six64Four"]

Hello Forza Fans! This is long, but if you're as excited as I am about FM3 you'll read on...

Last night, I completed Landin's "Top Secret Project" that he offered a couple of weeks ago for those that either live in Los Angeles or were willing to travel to the City of Angels. I am fortunate enough to live here and it turns out that the "Project" was a VIP party thrown by Turn 10 to celebrate the debut of their racing baby Forza Motorsport 3! In short, the night was fan-FREAKING-tastic! One regret I have is that I wasn’t able to shake Landin’s hand and thank him. He was still up north working. Che was there though, and he is veeery cool. Just...suave. Shaking Dan G's hand and telling him he's my hero was pretty awesome too.

Okay, where shall I start? The beginning is always good, so I'll start with the complimentary valet parking. I got out of my car and the first thing I notice is the loud music thumping out of the venue, supplied by the live DJ. The next thing I notice, aside from all the guests milling about, is the Forza racing line on the ground leading guests into the very large tent. Actually it was the braking line, a trail of red triangles signaling fans to slow down since they had arrived at their destination.

Upon entering the venue, the HOT red 2010 Audi R8V10 that accompanied Dan (The Man) Greenwalt onstage at the Press Conference was sitting front and center greeting each and every person as they entered. I was told later by Senior Game Lead Bill Giese that it was the only car of its kind in the United States and was flown in specifically for Turn 10 and would be heading back to Germany today. To sit in the car was heaven. I sat in the car right next to the president of Audi while he tried to turn on the LED lights that were installed in the engine bay to make that powerful V10 engine look even more ominous through the revealing rear window.

In addition to the Audi, there were about nine other beautiful sports cars in attendance; one of which was the very Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 that Christian Bale's Bruce Wayne used in "The Dark Knight." Not a car LIKE it...THEE car!

I know you want me to get to the game, so I'll just quickly say that a large buffet table was sitting outside on the deck, and there was a full bar inside. Much like Turn 10 not skimping on their latest masterpiece (more on this later), they did not skimp on this party either. Okay, onto the game...

The first person I met from the Turn 10 team was John Wendel, the Content Manager for FM3. He was super friendly and took a lot of time to tell us about the changes from FM2 to FM3 and why gamers are going to be happy peeps come October. When asked if it frustrates him when he and his team pour their blood, sweat and tears into a project only to have it picked apart in the forums, his response was "Not really. I mean look, at least they're talking about it which is a good thing. The one thing that does frustrate me is when some guys say that we're lazy because we didn't put this feature in, or that feature in." He went on to say that they work right up to the deadline and are just as disappointed when they can't get something in, or something has to be cut from a game.

John being interviewed:

This time, since they were more familiar with the Xbox 360, John talked about how they could really hit the ground running with FM3 and accomplish things that would have taken too long in FM2. Even though they did FM1 and had that experience under their belt, they had to pretty much start all over with the new 360 hardware which kind of stunted their freedom with what they could do. With FM3, it’s like shackles have been released or something. Many issues have been addressed and rectified.

John introduced me to Senior Game Lead Bill Giese and the first words out of his mouth were "Didn't I sit next to you in the Microsoft Press Briefing?" You see, the day prior to this shin-dig was the press conference. I was sitting between two guys I didn't know. During Dan G's Forza 3 presentation, I was cheering and yelling like a schoolgirl, not realizing that I was sitting right next to Forza's Senior Game Lead! I told him that I was actually holding some enthusiasm back so that I wouldn't appear like a madman. He said that it made him feel really good to see a true fan get that excited about their labor of love. Bill was telling me that he was largely responsible for the user interface which is a series of clean, white menus with orange and gray accents not unlike the revamped FM.net. He said that he looked to high-end automotive brochures and websites for inspiration which makes great sense to me since Turn 10 are all about "Car Lust."

Six64Four and Bill G:

I mentioned to Bill that one pet peeve I had in the first two games was the replay camera angles. He smiled and said "Those were all me." Oops! He explained that the reason the camera was so often in either first person view or zoomed in tight to the car is because when the camera was zoomed out too far, you would see too much pop-in and it frustrated him greatly! Finally time was up, and the game had to shift as is. He laughed and told me that when people were coming down on the replays in the forums, the rest of the team would jokingly tease him with "So yeah, Bill...what's up with those awful replays?" Bill was SO proud to show me the replays in Forza 3, and was I SO eager to let him! He informed me that they hired a guy from Blizzard (Unfortunately I don't remember his name) to help out with the replay cameras, and MAN is this a different game! All of the sweeping, helicopter views you could want. All the stationary cameras you could dream of...zooming in, zooming out, television style presentation is all represented here. With the new replay style you can better see cars dancing around on their springs as they head through chicanes.

While at the car selection screen I commented on how rapidly I was able to quickly shift through car choices. No more waiting for cars to load before they appear and start to rotate. Remember how Forza and Forza 2's car select screens were very similar? Well it's almost as if Turn 10 picked up that concept and chucked it out the window and started from scratch. I don't say that out of any disrespect for F1 and 2, but when you see what they have in store for you IN MOTION, you won't believe what they've done.

Selecting a Cadi:

"Launch? Where's Rarity?":

Once you pick your car from this screen, you pick the color of your car from a screen that shows off your car in an all new dynamic view that sadly I didn't have the presence of mind to take a picture of.

I realize that I sound like a star-struck fanboy, but seriously, the passion that you always read about in interviews "We want to make gamers into car enthusiasts, and car enthusiasts into gamers." etc., is true, true, true! I said no less than five times last night that Turn 10 has built my dream game.

Bill escorted us from the large HD flat screen 16:9 monitor to the famous triple screen set up complete with the new Fanatec wheel in a racing rig sitting on multi-directional hydraulics. I quickly turned all assists and driving line off as I do at home with Forza 2, picked a track called Camino Viejo: Montserrat (Actually, I might have just blended the name of two of the three tracks. I should have written this stuff down. I apologize!) I then picked a sexy Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG Black Series and attempted to impress Bill and all the onlookers with my incredible talent! Well...not so much. The power of the car, combined with my ignorance of the track resulted in my being all over the place! It was pretty embarrassing actually.

The guy what was working the "ride" talked me into trying to flip the car. Think about that. Turn 10 is continually pushing the envelope. Flip the car? Crazy. Unfortunately I was unsuccessful. To be fair, I only tried once. Once I got back to a single screen monitor with a controller in my hands I did much better with the turns and brake points and I was able to more aptly appreciate the cockpit view and the way the roofline and the A-frame lunge forward under heavy braking, and recede under acceleration. The sounds of the engines are more monstrous and atmospheric. The beautiful vistas are breathtaking. Graphically, FM3 is a package that will stoke the forum flame wars for years to come.

What got me even more excited were the things that the different developers DIDN'T tell me. Brian was the worst with his "Stay tuned" and "You'll see" with winking smiles. He assured me that what I was witnessing and praising at the party was but a tiny morsel of what we'll all get in October. I could go on, but like I said to Brian; it's hard to adequately articulate the beauty, excitement, and emotional response I was having to the beautiful monster that is Forza Motorsport 3. Brian simply gestured toward the red Audi R8 sitting about three feet from us and said "It's much like trying to describe this."

I agree.

i sure hope that they still dont have certain cars with certain body kit options. the s13 had some of the better body kit options, yet they didnt apply it to other cars. Origin, Version Select, etc. why only give it to the s13, when they have applications for the ae86,s14, s15,etc. also i cant stress ride height and wheel fitment enough.lol. even after race coilovers and a maxed drop, tons of cars were monster trucking. there are just those little things that make the difference and i hope they tweeked some of it. i could go on forever, but i will just shut up and wait for details.

I read most of the info that was available at the time. That's just my opinion to make the game perfect. It's like someone being excited for a movie and they say "Super cool actor" is in it. Then you think "super cool actor" is in it with some other good actor, it'd make the movie great. Get it? Ok good.

Source to them saying Kaido is back? I already knew about the drag mode. Drift mode sounds stupid.

actually the developers say they can release the game whenever they want, but they keep adding more stuff to it.

this just said about it.
Gran Turismo 5 - Closer Than We Think? » VirtualR - Sim Racing News

I never had a xbox, but i do recognize Forza has its good points and neg points, just like Gran Turismo. Both should be good. *its usually people saying either one is better because they either grew up with one or have that system*.

Im trying to remain open minded about these console games, its just hard for me to go back to them and realizing how much different/unrealistic they are compared to the games i usually play on pc *sims*, its just totally different feel to them, esp when you got a steering wheel setup. you will spend hours doing laps around 1 track, setups, qualify and race online, feel joy and excitement when you pass or frustration when you get bumped off course.. When you play console games, you beat a race and its like "ok now to the next race lemme buy some more car parts, wow my thumbs are getting tired, ok ill just blow past everyone on the first lap and just maintain it."

whats your point? if you wanna drive a car that looks just like everyone else's go play Gran Turismo ( although i love GT) its nice to play a game where you can show creativity and seperate yourself from everyone else. along with the game still being realistic to a certain extent. lame post dude. do you even play Forza?

i like forza, but the gameplay of GT is just better. no way to explain it, but it just seems more intuitive. the only addition i would care for, as far as forza goes, is the ability to control offsets and ride height visually. i don't care about the racing, i just like to build cars. haha.

agreed.lol. if i want to play a game with really good physics i will hop on Gran Turismo. but in terms of fully building a car with every idea flowing through my head. i hop on Forza 2, just because of how detailed it can get.

^ I don't agree with any of you GT3,4,5 supporters. I've played them all and spent a great deal of time on each of them. Hands down Forza is the best and I can simply prove it to you. How come in GT4, we'll say, why is it that you can't perform a simple donut? Secondly, why is it that the car can't step out well. Usually people respond to these questions by saying that GT isn't a drifting game. Well that's fine but the reality is that the car WOULD do that if you tried to. there is my issue. There are a few other problems with GT but they're not worth mentioning b/c its the driving physics that are messed up. I will say that GT3 had the best physics. Lastely Forza got the sound clips spot on, GT not so much...

I hope Forza incorporates a wheel offset setting.

Check this tiny tiny portion of the endless amount of user generated content that is released through the forums every day, for the last 2 years....

All of these livery's are done using the vinyl shop with primitive shapes, and gradients....

^a tiny example of the AMAZING things that can be done in the paint editor

And some of the hottest racy liveries/painted on widebodies/painted open hoods around...

Whew that took awhile.....

I HARDLY scratched the surface of the sheer amount of cars that are released by users every day since release. Different paints, painted on widebodies, painted on open hoods, photo realistic paints, different tunes and builds for just about every car in the game, on every track and every class in the game.

Gran Turismo cannot even shine a light on the amount of content that forza's community is able to produce. It is literally endless. Hell, a lot of people don't even race on the game, they just play it to paint!

Name a car, any car in any race series and i bet you can find it ready for purchase from the auction house, by looking through forzamotorsport.net

/end GT5 arguement

Le Sarthe confirmed!

Introducing - Circuit De La Sarthe
An inside look at this world famous circuit in Forza Motorsport 3!

Landin Williams, 6.12.2009

As you make your way around the magnificent grandstands surrounding the Dunlop bridge you can't help but anticipate what lies ahead. You calmly challenge the few remaining corners that separate you from one of the longest most grueling stretches of track in the world...the famous Mulsanne Straight. By the time you realize it's near you're foot is firmly planted, sandwiching the accelerator pedal between your shoe and the stripped interior of your LMP race car -- well on its way to top speed.

Check out more LMP hotness over at our official Le Mans photo gallery here!

This moment of anticipation is a reality for many seasoned drivers competing in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and now you can share the excitement. I'm extremely proud to announce that the home of this incredible straight...Circuit De La Sarthe is now at your fingertips in Forza Motorsport 3!

Hello and welcome to the first post-E3 Forza Motorsport 3 content reveal! I'm Landin Williams, Community Lead here at Turn 10, and along with Community Manager Che Chou I'll be trickling out details of the game over the next few months as we march towards October. As you can see we're kicking things off big, with a track and car reveal that will have racing fans jumping for joy. For more on the Cars of Le Mans, visit the LMP showcase gallery here.

Track_Info
Circuit De La Sarthe

Location: Le Mans, France

Length: 8.489 Miles (Sarthe)

Track Configurations: 3

Number of Turns: 21(Sarthe)

Bugatti and Sarthe Configurations Included

Meticulously recreated down to every last detail by our talented track team, you can now look forward to speeding down the 3.7 mile straight in your favorite race car. "Le Sarthe" as it is known by many is as raw as they come, a punishing track for the car and driver who must sit comfortably on the edge of control at all times. You've probably seen footage of cars screaming down the Mulsanne straightaway, charging towards two chicanes that will take a serious toll on your car as you approach at full speed. We've included it all in Forza 3...the classic Sarthe configurations and the shorter Buggati circuit. All in all the Circuit De La Sarthe is truly a unique racing environment, which is why it's the only place to host the most legendary racing event of all time...the 24 Hour of Le Mans.

An incredible endurance race that tests drivers, cars and their crew, the 24 Hour of Le Mans is a historically distinguished event held annually at the Circuit De La Sarthe. The concept of a continuous 24 hour race introduces many challenges for racing teams who must take long-term reliability into the equation when building their machines. Automotive factory teams push their latest technology to the limit in order to be crowned the champion of this illustrious racing event, and the Circuit De La Sarthe is where it all goes down. Our announcement of this track coincides with the 24 Hour of Le Mans event that is currently underway in France, so make sure to check out footage from the race to get a feel for this amazing track. A track with so much racing history...and we couldn't think of a better way to celebrate its uniqueness than to include it in Forza Motorsport 3.

Opened in 1923, Circuit De La Sarthe utilizes local roads that remain open to the public in the off-season. You can tell by how worn out some of these sections have become over the years, making them that much more exciting to drive as you fight to keep your car under control while it skips along the warped tarmac of the Mulsanne straight. With Forza Motorsport 3's realistic driving physics you can bet you'll feel every bump in the road, because at Turn 10 we don't cut corners on authenticity.

You see...tracks get major love over here and rightfully so. Each one is meaningful and special in its own way, and without accurate track models and detailed artwork, that magic and uniqueness is lost. It's all in the details. That (and our unyielding love for motorsports) is why we've sent our track team to Le Mans France to gather real-time data of the actual Circuit De La Sarthe. Over the course of two weeks we collected insane amounts of reference material that was brought home, broken down, and used to accurately re-create every last detail of this incredible course.

The Turn 10 track crew walks the course...gathering valuable data for reference along the way.

In fact when asked for a few images of his reference trip to the Circuit De La Sarthe in France, Turn 10 track lead Matt Collins sent over a shared folder containing over 15,000 images ...nearly 60GB of source material! Looking through these images/videos I found reference on just about everything (and I mean everything). Track barriers, road materials, rumble strips, vegetation and trackside buildings are just a few of the things that we're documented during their visit to France. Combined with endless amounts of physical data collected via GPS, aerial photography and a team of car experts to ensure accuracy, we had everything needed to create a scale replica of the world famous Circuit De La Sarthe in Forza Motorsport 3. It's honestly way too much content (and hard work) to cover in the scope of this article, but the passion and pride we take in track modeling will shine through as you take your very first lap around the Circuit De La Sarthe in Forza 3 this October.

Track_Reference_SmallTo celebrate the announcement of this world famous track we've released another batch of sexy screenshots, so check them out here! This weekend also marks the beginning of our very own 24 hour racing event, the Audi AXF-24 Hour Challenge. Nine of the fastest Forza racers will compete in a 24 hour Forza 3 endurance race for over 20 grand in prizing! It's going down this weekend at the Audi Forum in New York City, and I'll personally be there to report on all the action and excitement. Check out the Turn 10 studios blog and our official Twitter page for the most up to date info from NYC. Left: Matt Collins takes reference of the famous Mulsanne straight.

We'll also have coverage of the real 24 Hour of Le Mans race event, as Che Chou and Dan Greenawalt hopped on a plane earlier this week destined for Le Mans, France! Check back soon for their impressions! I hope you've enjoyed this inagural content release, and remember to check back often for the latest news on Forza Motorsport 3.

Peace

Landin

HOLY EPIC NEW SCREENS!!!

So apparently they were able to obtain the license for the Super GT R35! Man i am excited. Best part about that is, in forza 3 you will be able to paint every single car in the game. Replacing these paints with anything you want!

Full article here with more bits of info.

Did the article say so? I don't know how possible that will be. I mean, it was probably hard enough to get the licensing for the Xanavi paint scheme, so I doubt they would let you change it. If they said you could in the article, just ignore this post, hahah.
