Viper alarm/remote start/remote locks trouble shooting
I'm currently in the process of an LS/4L60E swap into my 93 vert and am attempting to tackle some issues with a remote start system before I get too far into it.
The previous owner had a Viper system installed with alarm, power remote locks, and remote start. I have no idea what the model number is. Currently, the alarm and locks work as they should, but the remote start and ignition cylinder don't seem to be in sync. For the most part, using the key to start the engine works as it should. However, at seemingly random times, when the key is inserted into the ignition and turned to the start position, nothing happens. Power comes on, but no starter click at all. When this happens, I can take the key out of the ignition, press the remote start, and it starts right up. My questions are: -How can I isolate the problem? (could I have an ignition cylinder going bad, or is it a problem with the wiring of the remote start?) -If I need to remove the remote start feature, would this be as simple as uninstalling the appropriate wiring from the control module? -If I can retain the remote start (which would be ideal), would it just be as simple as replicating the remote start wiring into the new starter harness? Thanks everyone. TL;DR: I think my remote start is causing my ignition cylinder to not work sometimes. How do I fix this?
