Tailshaft seal leak = fragile?? After LSD install

Installed my (1993) J30 VLSD w/ Axles on my SR20'd S13 last weekend.
everything went smoothly of course...Driveshaft is of course the tiniest bit too long (non-abs Shaft) but had no problems installing it.
----NOW-----
I Noticed there is a trans fluid leak at the back of the Trans where the Slip Yoke goes in it seems.
Now,..I'm using my stock KA Driveshaft w/ my SR and I believe we had to remove the Dust Collar.I don't believe The SR Collar works w/ the KA shaft.
This:

Only pic on the net i could find so don't mind...but Is the SR metal and the KA trans Plastic?
Anyway:
Now you would think it would have been leaking before I installed the VLSD but seems I upset something I guess.
Is the Tailshaft seal Fragile?
is that what I need to go ahead and replace ya think?

Anyone else had to replace that seal?

The pic is just a dust cover

You dont need the cover if running the KA D/S

there is a small seal behind it
Im sure it needs replacement after 15 years
so just replace it

that seal is super prone to leaking

go ahead and replace it but don't be surprised if you find it leaking again in the future

There are two steps to the output. The inner has the seal in it and the outter has the dust sheild. Removing the dust sheild will not affect the seal.

What does happen is the seal wears on the DS yoke and gets matched to the DS. When you put your KA DS in it they didn't fit perfectly or it got nicked on the reinstall.

Just replace it any time to remove the DS. It's cheap insurance.
