Is it worth overhauling a ka24. Putting in new pistons, piston rings, connecting rods, valves, valves spring and retainers, camshaft etc... Bottom end and top end overhauling. Or just swap with an sr20 using stock turbo??

are u putting a turbo on the ka?? and what are u trying to get out of the motor reliability or power? its pretty simple choice if u ask me

Pretty much both power and reliability and yes i know that dis has been discussed a million times just not accurate enough. Any way yeah just non turbo ka. All engine probably headers, intake and exhaust. Is it possible to spend 2g overhauling a ka? or do i have to spend more cuz i know buying a sr would cost more than 2g and more if making a mechanic install it for you.

if i were you i would rebuild the ka and do some higher compression pistons, itll be a lot cheaper in the long run, sr swaps cost around 2k, but everything else you need costs around 2k too.

nobody ever told me that, but if you do go sr, do not , DO NOT , buy it local, import it and your life will be easier.

sr 2k?? i checked out phase2motor trend and they're charging their sr's for 3k or more. That's not including shipping.

try jdm of miami, and there's one here on zilvia that has baller prices every month or two i think, i cant think of their name right now, but yeah it was around 2k shipped.

but im talking s13 sr's

idk what is average for s14 slanttops.

i lucked out on ebay. found a cheap sr(motor only since i had harness and 5speed.) was $1100 shipped from japan. Called company to find out more info and it seems legit. Sure enough motor was in great shape and its been running strong. =)

Alright good infos about the sr. what about the ka, worth overhauling? Turbo or non turbo?

i'd do high compression n/a, ive never done it tho, but just lightweight flywheel, and driveshaft it was fun as hell to drive, sorry i dont have anymore info.

Just cuz your in Guam, I'd get whatever I can get my hands on. Start off by trying to find another used KA first before I contemplate on rebuilding it. If you find an SR locally, I'd jump on it considering whatever you find locally would be cheaper than trying to something shipped from anywhere.
