7mgte in a s13??!?
i know theres alot of people who hate on the 7mgte but i happen to have a whole swap from my old supra (rip ) and im curious to know if its been done before? i know there are kits sold for easy swaps for 1js and all that but i highly doubt theres anything for a 7mgte. to me this would be an interesting swap and i can still have my old love with me in a sense. but realy my main question is to those who do fab work and more custom stuff
1. what would i do for tranny and engine mounts 2. what kind of fabrication will be needed? 3. is it worth it and just for good reference its a rebuilt 7m with a pretty fresh turbo and hks headgasket. mofo had some nice pull to it at 12 lbs thanks, and dont hate on my thread! |

point is that i already have the whole motor, trans, ecu , and wiring harness. dont really have money for a 1jz swap. trying to be unique here but in my eyes if it can pull off some sick long drifts and smash on almost anyone i took on in my 3800 lbs supra, then i can only imagine how it would feel in the s13.

id rather just drop it in another supra. or make it a sleeper in a cressida. i just dont wanna get rid of it cause its all i have from my supra and i love that thing. i think its a problem i should probably seek professional help....

7MGTES are garbage in a Supra already, taking time and effort to put one into a 240SX is a FAIL waiting to happen. Dont waste your time and just get a real engine. The 7M is not only a 200 hp engine that is lazy as hell, it barely makes more power then a KA with 7 psi on a junkyard turbo setup. On top of that its not only complicated and unreliable its an old ass engine.

idk if somone had the fab skills nd the chassis nd motor lying round that would be kinda cool to see but paying other ppl to make mounts nd wiring ect it would just be uneconomical. tho it would be cool to see you would probably be better off with some other motor. also think of it this way: less weight over the front you handle better! those strait sixes hang over the front liek mofos

The 7m tranny and engine mount is the same with 1JZ. So any kit for jz swap for s chassis will be the same. I think you should do it instead of spending another 2k for 1jz. The engine is already been rebuilt with hks headgasket. If you don't want the 7m, I'll take it of your hand.

It would be one of those things that would be interesting to see once....but still not worth it.

IMHO the 7m isn't an interesting swap in terms of being unique, maybe in terms of blowing up but not unique. Even with the hks HG they aren't that great( high mileage, old technology, headache to work on, there's a good reason you don't see too many 240 owners swap them into their S-chassis). Just sell it and save yourself the headache, please I don't even want to see a 7m swap thread.

if you think the motor is still reliable enough to take a beating, and you're that attached to it, which i think you are, then go for it.

put whatever engine in whatever chassis you would like and stop seeking the approval of the drift community. theres pros and cons to every swap as well as haters and purest who are just gonna flame you all day for asking this question. put your engine in and if at the end of the day you regret it... then well you live and you learn... or rock your 7m at events, tear some shit up and earn some respect... simple

dont these engine come on 92 cressidas too??
if they do, i dont think the 1j motor brackets will work since they sell mounts to fit 1j's in cressidas. im just saying on the other hand....whatever rocks your world man....if thats what you want...do it!!! it wont be the best swap for your 240sx and you know that, but its worth the try i guess. |

Don't listen to them, swap the engine if you want.We are currently finishing a build on one of these motors in a mk3 supra. It should make about 650hp on low boost and close to 800 on high boost. This motor has plenty of potential, headgasket problems were a torque and finish issue.Fix that and you have a bullet proof motor. We thought about 1jz but getting parts local or anywhere is tuff for those motors. You may have to fab mounts, but that can be done easily.Goodluck with the swap.
