Comments:

1)We have a thread specifically for Pictures.

2) The Turbo GTO is crazy. Why the remote mount? Is that next to the fuel tank? If so, HOLY-PRESSURE-DROP-BATMAN!, why even bother?

because you have 8 cylinders pushing air through 2 headers which mate into one pipe which goes to the turbo. I think the turbo lag would feel like a redtop pushing a t-28 and the turbo on the GTO is clearly a bigger turbo. I call full boost by 3-3.5k with 500+horsepower to the wheels. Less heatsoak in the engine bay and less clutter, probably a lot easier to install. Probably cheaper than getting turbo manifolds. I like it

because you dont need an intercooler, its cheaper ( not needing a custom manifold) there is no boost lag difference in compariosn to a engine mounted turbo, stealth factor as in the cops dont notice it, ease of installation, cooler egt and oil temps around the turbo, oh yeah and its badass. mind you it spools the t67 way quick hahah the beauty of displacmnt i guess.

the only thing is the car is a pig at 3800lbs and isnt happy cornering. but its sure quick

You make valid points Var, but my questions still remain on Throttle Response and Pressure drop. There's got to be at least 8ft of intake piping there, and at least the same for the exhaust piping. I would think the spool up would extremely slow with all that piping, and boost levels wouldn't be nearly as high as they should be with that turbo. Not to mention, a hacksaw and 10-15 mins of cutting and somebody has a new turbo without ever popping his hood. I'm just not seeing enough positives. Maybe I'm just being pessimistic because it's so different.

*edit* Since you posted answers while I was typing/proofreading my above comments, I will add this: How is it stealth when I can clearly see the wastegate protuding beneath the vehicle in the first picture??

but yoa you have the right idea,

well considering that the engine has like 11:1 compression or something like that..you'd probably want the turbo lag and low boost so the VE of the engine would drop and free up some extra room for the boosted air at higher rpm. With 15psi and lower compression you're looking at big power.

I didnt say it was stealth, but whitewrx did.

What i said to PHLIP on Aim

It's probably not good enough for road race, but more than adequate for drift, drag race, high speed runs, or daily driving. The engine has 400 horses stock. And it's a v-8. If this was done to a 4 cylinder i would slap myself for agreeing with it. Nobody is saying it's the most efficient way to do things in terms of power. I dare anyone to say so. But it's so convenient .

He needs lower compression, shorter gears, higher boost, and tuning.

Remote turbos has been around for awhile. It makes since for V6, V8 engines because its about 1/3rd the cost of a real turbo setup. Although with its sacrifices. You will find people putting these on their cars are people who run Nitrous as one of their first and foremost mods. It wont make since to most of us as we are a different breed....

However, argue all you want about throttle response/turbo lag. It bitchslaps anything on the market $ vs HP gains.

Its just not going to fly for the serious turbo heads out there. Sadly we maybe make up 30% if best of the market, so the remote turbo should become a popular solution given it doesn’t get to much negative publicity from uneducated boostaholics.

mind you this is not a 2.0L motor. its 5.7L and that on a normal engine with fmic you have like 6ft of piping anyhow. there are no problems with pressure drop. the "hardpipe" quickly pressurizes and there is quick throttle response.

as for the stealth factor how many cops or other people for that mattler look next to the muffler for a turbo and wastegate, and even if they did notice it they wouldnt know what it was.

the compression isnt 11:1 , i believe thats the LS2 6.0 motor. compression is a tad lower on the ls1 which is why it can be boosted and the ls2 cant. his engine is 350 hp stock anyways.

so where would the muffler be?? cat?? interesting.. I respect the gtos, austrailian v8 super car races are dope. I wonder how it sounds..

dam American engineering is alot different then japanese engineering as far as aftermarket turbos goes...

I can imagine that position not the best for that air filter... imagine getting that turbo really hot then splashing through some water.. I hope they got a good tech/customer service line.

I guess its made to be super easy bolt, and that the engine bay already looks like a bit*h to work in since its packed..
