Tranmission help. Need help. Thanks :)
So I'm here to help a friend with a s14. The car is automatic. I know sucks swap is in progess. So we had some problems during the swap and we had to install the auto tranny back on. It worked perfectly fine before. I have the car lifted on jacks. When the car is in gear it will just rev. The wheels will turn just a little but it feels like something is holding it back. Yes I checked the obvious. Ebrake is off. Shifter linkage. And torque convertor was installed correctly. Can it be the amount of fluid? The dip stick already show full but I only added like 3-4quarts. I heard when it's fully dranied you need more than that? Any help will be appreciated

Did you make sure to put the torque converter all the way in? Its like a 2 step thing where it goes in once but then keep turning until it goes in further on the main gear shaft...
Auto tranny's take like 8 quarts of transmission fluid or something like that......did you fill the torque converter with 4 quarts before install, separate from filling the transmission itself |

Yes I kept turning it till I felt like it was very snug. And no I didn't not full it will 4 quarts. More like a little under 1 quart. Then I filled the tranmission itself. I forgot to mention it does make a rattling noise. Like it's coming from the torque convertor. hopefully it's not screwed

The clutch itself and driveshaft.
I had to order them. Meanwhile I needed the car to get around. So thought I can put the auto tranny back on. But I guess not also still looking for clutch pedal

you're doing too much, young blood
first, you need an FSM. second, you need to actually sit down and USE IT last, if you're going to pull shit apart, you need to 1) prepare and acquire all the parts you need (and confirm or hope that they work) 2) have a backup car or plan in case things dont work out as planned (which is usually every time) you cant be a wishy washy weekend mechanic who thinks they know what they are doing, then cry to the forum for help as if we fully understand what you are doing or attempting to do i cant even understand what this thread is about. it sounds like you attempted to swap to manual and yet you dont even have a clutch pedal. then it sounds like you attempted to swap back to auto. here is how it works: 1) remove auto 2) discard or sell auto 3) install manual 4) enjoy car better get a spare car, amigo. |
