Here is the story, I picked up a a31 cefiro from the dock last week (freshly imported) and it started up fine. Car was driving pretty good but would die upon decel, I factored it as a vacuum leak as the PCV system was left open and not routing back to the intake. Anyway, as I was coming on to the highway I was trying to get to 60mph (105km est) and the car just wouldn't go. I thought maybe it was slow, so I downshifted, car still had nothing and it started smoking from the engine. so I pulled over after that. It looked to be burning oil from the pcv dripping on to the exhaust manifold. Car wouldn't start back up after that and needed to be towed.

I have since put a new fuel pump, new Spark plugs, swapped coils from a working car. checked maf and car would not start. have spark and fuel as I can hear it when manually moving the CAS.

I finally got the car started up, but it wont stay running and it sounds gawd awful. Also so much smoke is coming from the pcv hoses and under the intake manifold area. Also hear a tapping noise. Could it be a valve? doesn't sound like rod knock.

also I pulled codes prior to finally getting the car to start at home. it pulled 12 and 34. I didn't think either of these codes would cause the car not to start. havnt tried pulling the codes again since I got the car able to half ass turn on
