Usually it's your cat. Change it. Though you could always try switching gas stations or fuel grade. A nice "tune-up" ( spark plugs, plug wires, fuel and air filters, and oxygen sensor, and clean the fuel injectors) wouldn't hurt either. If that doesn't do it, just replace your cat.

Rotten eggs (sulfur) can only come from two things in your car.

1. Battery
2. Catalytic Converter

as they said it may be because your cat is burnt out but make sure your not running lean because cats work better when at a richer a/f ratio let us know how it turns out

rotten egg smell is sulfur, it could either come from your battery which i don't think so since you said it only happens when you drive it hard. the other place it is is in the gas. unlike what people have been telling you though, replacing the catalytic converter will not help it, it does not filter sulfur. sulfur is an inert gas, meaning is isn't going to burn up, it will enter your engine and exit your engine in the same form. it could just be the quality of gas you are using, it might have a higher sulfur content. if it never happened before it could just be you are expelling a lot more fuel than used to, in which case you might need a tune up like was mentioned before.

You are smelling hydrogen sulfide. The wash coat on cats are designed to deal with H2S.

If it's the stock cat it's prolly toast and you should get a new one. There are gas additives that can attempt to clean the cat. But, if you don't have a lot of miles on the cat it may be something else.

Make sure you don't have a Oil or coolant leak. The phosphorus in some coolants and the zinc in some oils can contaminate the cat. Also, gas additives such as MMT and oil additives that have ZDDP can contaminate the cat over time.

Cliffs, I think your cat is toast cause the smell should go away as you heat up the cat. Make sure you don't have a oil or coolant leak into the exhaust(HG leak). Replace it and be happy.
