Sign Making, Sign Supplies, Vinyl Cutters, Sign Cutters, Vinyl Banners, Wide Format Color Printers, Laser Engravers has pretty good prices on non metallic vinyl.
didnt see this mentioned anywhere in this thread, works 100 times better then soapy water. use lots of it though! application fluid as for vinyl looking good. this car was done entirely with vinyl. took about $45 and ~35-40 hours in work. |

bumpers are the hard part
but really. it looks tons better than a spray bomb job. its all even, smoothe, etc etc. for hte money cant go wrong if you put it on right.....plus it isnt permanent like spray bombing is

Maybe they did flat black because to some people it looks good? I think Flat black cars (when done right) looks extremely good.

So was the vinyl on that civic flexible? The stuff that I was messing around with, with Castro was not flexible at all. It was impossible to go around corners because everything needed to be slit in order to bend the slightest bit.

any proof that civic wasnt sprayed? seems like a bad idea to put vinyl graphics over the vinyl body, incase they want to remove those graphics it would probably pull the vinyl underneath?

The metalic and the metalic sparkles dont bend well or stretch because they have metal in them. the normal colors are easier to do corners with. |

lol i dont know what proof to give you other then me saying i watched it being done. it was avery vinyl, extremely flexible. there are actually rating for that, i just dont remember them off the top of my head. and no, the top vinyl doesnt pull off the vinyl under. just be sure you cook the base vinyl in the sun for a day or so before going crazy with other graphics. |

Yea I just stripped my car of the vinyl, all my stickers I had over the purple came off without peeling the purple. I thought the same thing was going to happen and that some of the stickers would be unusable. But it ended up being fine.

Everybody keeps saying how its not permanent...has anyone actually tried removing all the vinyl from their wrapped cars? Seems like it would be a bigger PITA than sanding old paint.

i honestly think it looks good if done right. for those of you that are doing it, how are you going about the seams? are you over lapping or what, seems like maybe a write up is in order?

You have to overlap. Best Technique just comes down to the person, I know a guy that used soapy water and a hair drier and that was best for him and it came out pretty good. But my personal way that I found best was just having a clean surface and using no water at all and no drier. Also not being afraid to use small pieces and doing patch work.
also I took the car apart as much as i could to do it. Here are a couple pics ended up having to redo this one because the top left corner I butchered pretty bad (first piece I did) On that last pic there is a lot of patch work and small pieces. If you get the laying part down its really hard to see them. The top left was 2 or 3 pieces that I just F'ed up. the big parts are patched.
