HELP! need ka24de valve cover bolt tighting pattern!!! searched away no luck
does anybody have a diagram or something showing what order to tighten the bolts on the valve cover??!!!

I don't think there is an exact torque specified in the FSM. Definitely don't overdo it or you'll strip the threads in the head.

16 lbs!! NONO!! Here's a link to a post I just made.

If you've torqued the bolts to 16 ft/lbs loosen them and retorque them per the diagram and at 6-8 ft/lbs

Also the previous diagram shows 12 bolts???? WTF? My 91 and my 96 only have 11 bolts. hmmmm.....

it shows 11 bolts. you're supposed to tighten the first one then retighten it again when you've done all the others.

Why re-tighten it? If you've got it tightened down to say 8 ft/lbs then it's done. Putting the torque wrench on there to snap it tight again only tightens it further. Trust me if you try it you will see the bolt turn a little more with every click of that wrench. One bolt = one click = done.

Where did you get that diagram anyway? hmmm.....
