Looks like a factory VLSD. You should put the factory recommended 75w-90 in it. You cannot replace the viscous fluid and hopefully, you didn't pay a fortune for a possibly worn out diff.

Not sure how to test the lock, but the night I put it in, I went to do a u-Turn and ended up doing a 270, It was more than willing to rotate, and if I do a little power braking, both tires will spin. I'll pull it back down in a couple days to see if there are any obvious issues or metal and then try to do a shim later on when I have access to some power tools.

VLSD, I've been cataloging mystery lsd's and I come up with an I dentification system that seems to work.
The holes sizes(big) and spacing and the beveled edge opposite of the ring gear are a clear indication of a VLSD. Most clutch type lsd's I've cataloged are more square or flat opposite the ring gear. This was sold to me as a vsld! Not the actual shit but the same you know what i mean.

Nope, no special fluids required. The VLSD unit is a seal piece inside the piece with large round holes.
