Sound System?

Who here has a nice sound system? I know most of you bastards dont even have stereos. But for those that do post you system with pics and what not. Im not talking about o0o check out my 3"sub i got from kragens, id like to see some nice clean systems. Im going to upgrade my whole stereo and id like to see what some of you did. Id also like to know if it is possible to fit 6x9s in the rear. How and where you mounted amps and whatnot.

FLAME AWAY!!!

I have an alpine v12 4channel mounted behind my back seat.. Disconnected rear speakers..cause my amp is too powerful for the shitty ass aplines I have in the back. Front speakers are polk audo dx series 6.5" compenets..sounds nice..decent bass. But I do plan on cutting the rear decklid to fit 6x9s..which can be done. headunit is a pioneer avic-n1.

Alping 9813, a/d/s components, infinity kappa 2 ways in the rear, 10" mmats pro sub, PG 475ti amp.

Amp is mounted on the shelf in the trunk. I fitted a peice of 1/2" ply wood under the carpet. All that's holding it in place are the fasteners. It hasn't budged in the 2 years it's been mounted there. 6x9's in the rear would only require cutting. I'd suggest getting a decent set of 6.5" 2 ways in the rear and spending the money on a good set of components. The rear speakers are just for fill in anyway.

Alpine deck, Stinger cap, super duper old school Soundstream Continium amplifier, currently powering MB Quart seperates up front and Diamond audio coaxials. Will eventually add a small subwoofer and amp rack to replace worthless back seat.

I just made a custom box for 2 10" subs and bolted down the amp right next to it. It fits perfect in the spare tire space and I just cut out another board so i can still put stuff in my trunk. Very efficient design since I can drive as reckless as i want without it sliding all over the place. Of course if you like having a spare this aint for you.

Nice everyone, now lets see some pics.

Ive decided to get a alpine 9831 head unit, diamon audi components up front, and infinity coax in the rear. Im concerned about the mounting of the components in the stock location, like the tweeter and sub. Im scared the sub wont fit in the door. Have any of you made a custom mount for the sub in the door?

more pics!

they will fit in the door no problem, but fitting a decent sized tweeter in the stock location is difficult.

I'm a Boston Acoustics guy myself. I have 6.5's up front, and i took out the rear speakers because i dont need the rear noise. I also just finished my box for my trunk yesterday, 10" Boston woofer. I'll get pics later if you want. it isnt anything fancy of special, but i managed to fit it in the open slot on the right of the trunk without losing any trunkspace really and still maintaining a 1 cu. ft. box.

JL audio 200 wat 2 channel amp 10" JL audio sub and new 130 wat kenwood 6.5"s all the way around.
pioneer head unit and i forget the model name but it's good and has great EQ with HPF it was $ 350.
Custom boxed the 10" so I'm not lugging some huge pre-made box.

And always look for crisper sound when checking out some door speakers, not the bass, I'd imagine your filtering bass.

I didn't want a 12" because of trunk space and im not looking for overwhelming power... A nice 10" is your best bet... or at least mine.

I did that. I removed the back seat an made a box that perfectly fits the spot. If you are interested, i will get some pictures and dimentions for you. It was quite the envolved project, but it came out very nice. I just need to carpet it now. I fit some pioneer 6x9s, but there is tons of room for 2 10 inch subs if thats your thing. It ended up weighing about 60lbs, not too bad i guess, at least its centered in the car
oh, i got some Infinity Kappas in the door. I ditched my other project and traded in the 6.5s for some Kappa component speakers. I am going to hook them up today

JL Audio 10" Subwoofers (2)
MTX Blue Thunder Pro 1502 Watt 2-Channel Power Amplifier - Max 400 watts
Pioneer Supertuner III Single disc CD player (DEH-P6600)
Sony Xplode 6 1/2 inch speakers (4)

Amp is mounted on the sub box and did some "special" wiring for the amp to be easily disconnected so I can take it out when need be. Just has a very nice sound to it, need to drown out the loud-ass exhaust sometimes.

Yo BJ, I think you've seen my setup in person... everything basically stock location wise... except for the 5ch Alpine V1X amp under the passenger seat (possibly being relocated due to the new seat height) and the custom box in the trunk housing my 10" JL sub (molex for easy removal during track days, although my box/setup passes tech and is light as hell ).

Basics:
old Pioneer DEH-P730
MB Quart QSD 216 6.5" seperates up front
MB Quart QSD 214 6.5" coax's in the back

in my s13 i had alpine 7892 head unit, kenwood 6.5 front components, 6.5 kenwood dualmag excelons in the rear, speakers powered by an alpine mp-f200. JBL 600.1, yes RAINIER its a 600.1 not 1200.1, powering two 12" xtants.

since i got rid the s13, now i have a clarion DXZ-655 head unit, clarion 6.5 front components, clarion 2-way coaxial in rear, amps and subs same as before.
