rolling chassis or body shop?
long story short, i got in a wreck which wasnt my fault, car is a total loss and now i need opinions on what i should do.
A - body shop said they could fix it for about $2200 (only the quarter panel and a paint job) still need a new door and fix up some dents (more $$) B - buy a rolling chassis for 3k obo and just put all of my belongings in that. C - do you think the insurance company would let me keep the motor if i hand them the keys to it? the insurance company wants to give me 3800 for the car 3k if i keep it. but i put too much money into it to let go for 3800 rolling chassis - $3000 OBO: 1996 240sx originally red, painted blue - looks good from 10 feet but needs to be redone if you are picky JIC body Kit straight body 5-lug, Z32 300ZX front brakes eibach springs, tokico struts black leather interior - driver side tear power windows Walbro 255lph fuel pump battery relocation kit 17" staggered Black Racing Pro N1 wheels (bronze) with sumitomo tires (warranty included) clean title Apexi N1 exhaust electric fan blitz turbo timer autometer boost gauge autometer oil pressure gauge pictures upon request |

just body damage on your car? take the 3k, get some receipts for bodywork and panels (for re-registering), get some used panels right here on the forums or locally. Fix the body on the cheap, keep the car you know and love.

pull out all your parts and give it to your insurance company before they come and get it.

You thread sounds like your trying to sell the car...lol
This is what you do. Keep the car and take the $3k from the insurance company. You can then part the car out and make about $2k+. So you would then have $5k to put towards a better 240sx that will already come with mods or a swap. If you are just looking for a "rolling chasis" to build up them you should be able to find one for $1000-$2000. There are alot of good deals out there. You just need to be patient but you can DEFINITELY find one in that range and go from there. Build the car anyway you want with the money left over. Thats what i would do. |

Or just get the car fixed. Time for a body kit with fenders to cover some of the body damage, and time for FRP or carbon doors to replace damaged doors. Or heck, a junkyard door would be cheaper.
