So I picked up all the parts to the 5-speed swap, didn't really think it mattered what year car the brake pedal was off of but today I went to go swap it out and it didn't fit. I had to drop the steering column and pretty much pull the brake booster out to get the auto pedal out and went to put the manual brake pedal just to find out it hit the steering column.

I looked it up and people have said that they have done it with no issues so im confused as to if I'm doing something wrong. Any help would be appreciated. My car is a 89' hatch.
