I bought a s13 vlsd a year ago. And now its noisy as hell. At slow speeds, and in tight turns. I already changed the oil, can't figure it out. Im guessing that the vlsd is dead? is there anything else I should check before putting back my open diff?

VLSDs only work so long, and a s13 one is about 10 years old, it wouldn't be surprising if it's going out, from what I here from peepz in japan, they don't last all that long if u thrash on them a bit. Sounds like the perfect excuse to upgrade

If you're hearing grinding noises, u should think replacement asap.

ummm mt vlsd is makin a weird noise too like a "swoooosh" or a space ship soundin flyin saucer sound..no grindin though...u think i need to add fluid in or what? i know i know i need to check but i dont want to open the plug and find it full..also my car has hicas and its makin a hissin sound from my right rear...very low though like air is escapin...the vlsd only makes a alie ship noise when i move..n e one else fix this problem?

before my lsd drives me nuts and into a wall
