Depending on what part of west LA you are in, there's different stuff to do

I used to live in Wilshire district but as Luisgonz said, it gets pretty old quick

And you get tired of worrying about your car getting jacked, finding parking, and whatnot

Drifting events there are a TON right now, mainly all at Willow Springs (north of LA maybe one hour)

I would just sell your car in Hawaii and build/buy a new one up here

Unless your car now is super badass and you can't duplicate it up here for cheaper

I wouldn't get a 240 though here in Socal unless you have a garage to store it, or at least live in a secure area

Food wise you got Sawtelle Ave (like Tokyo "street") or J Town to the east (next to downtown LA)

Korean food you got K town to the east, near the Wilshire district

West LA near UCLA you got pretty awesome places to eat and hang out, specifically Westwood: Lamonica's Pizza, Diddy Riece, etc

Also if you want to go on a "scenic drive" there's always Malibu/Latigo Canyon but don't do stupid shit if you're gonna go there. PCH is a pretty awesome drive, then stop at Neptune's Net for some seafood so you can feel like Vin Diesel and Paul Walker. I never did that....I mean, my FRIEND liked to do that...yeah, my "friend," not me. LOL

Theres alot of clubs around here although Valley clubs got alot more deals. But yeah I don't think around WLA you have to really worry about your car getting stolen but you never know so.What part of Hawaii are you coming from I ask cuz my father lives on Oahu.

Oh yeah there's a L&L on Licoln and Pico but It doesn't taste as bomb as Zippy's.

Naww I used to, I like goin to that one shave ice place on the south shore not matsumoto shave ice but i think it starts with a K, I forgot. It's nice out there just have been real busy with studying because I slacked off during junior year. But when you come down here and need some help with the area you hit me up or pm me. Watch out for parking tickets.

Los angeles is corrupt and you will pay up royally if your new to it.
cops are aholes, will ticket almost any modified car
get a beater/commuter car if your ever going to drive into deep LA like downtown fashion district etc.
get used to traffic, because thats when driving manual is a pain.
know your area and who lives near you, make friends with all your neighbors so they -7will watch your back and you will watch theirs.


los angeles is fun simple as that, but it is a pain the ass as well.

good food, good fun, hot chicks, things to do!
your even close to the beaches if you feel like hitting some small waves. sometimes swells are nice, but youll barely ever see anything over a 6


learn to be LOW PRO, know where and where not to go.

stay out of carson, south gate, compton, downtown, etc.
Its fine in the daytime, but watch yourself once the sun goes down

You're real close to some nice beach comunities. And if you want to hit up beverly hills, it's not too far away (same w/ hollywood). If you're in Santa Monica, might as well hit up the farmer's market and check out 3rd street and some of the restaurants around there. What logan says about Westwood sounds right and in the same spot you can check out a movie at a theater where the hold quite a few movie premires (the Mann Village...it's a "Fox theater" with a large "FOX" spire sticking out of it).

If you're there and you have a way to haul stuff back, you can prowl around the apartments around UCLA for unwanted/discarded furniture. There's lots of good stuff that people have to leave behind when they graduate or move (September and June are good months to search for stuff since many apt leases start or end on those months to accomodate school schedules). That "japan street" that's been mentioned is "Little Osaka" and has quite a few good places to eat/hangout/karaoke. One more thing about UCLA, there are numerous parties that get hosted by the frats during the first few weeks of the fall quarter. They used to consolidate them into silmutaneous parties on the first sunda before classes "Black Sunday" but LAPD got tired of the problems and got the frats to ease up. Party nights are thrusday nights for the frats (if you bring a good number of girls with you, it helps you get into the party). Dont worry about the homeless people, most of them wont attack you in broad daylight....

I lived in West LA for 15 years + of my life. And before that i lived in marina del rey wich is two miles west of west La...

Heres a breakdown.

That guy got it right about parking tickets. Make sure you read all signs before parking. Street cleaning is a bitch. I just moved to texas for a year, and i have probably about 800 bux worth of parking tickets. Screw cali, theyre not getting any of my money.

Traffic goes as is. Dont even think about taking the freeway in the morning and mid afternoon till about 8. That includes the only two freeways unless you count the marina del rey 90, the 405 and the 10 freeway. If your worried about freeway traffic. caltrans.org will help you out.

About theft, that person up there who said dont buy a 240 seriously needs to not be paranoid, or move into a better location. Dont get me wrong, i was worried about my car, but who wouldnt be with all the work you put into your car you know? Emerson(dreezed) is right, no problems really with theft.

Parking is a bitch. Make sure where you get an apt you have a two car(at least one car) parking space. If you dont get offered a parking space, dont live there, unless its permit parking. Wich is worth the money in my opinion.

Theyres tooo much to do in West La, and west la has thee best foods. Best sushi place is SUSHI HOUSE on bundy and pico. A good mexican joint is El Cholo on wilshire in SM. Any in and out for hamburgers.

For clubbing and bars. Venice, west la, culver city.

For cops, stay out of sm and culver city...two police forces who dont have much to do and will pull you over for stupid things.

And enjoy my hometown. Ill see you when i get there. I know a couple of ppl on here. Ohhhh and for the meet. Look up the 818 meet thread. Tell em you know heath and theyll have open arms for ya. I was a regular at the meet and not one person is shady there, and theyre all brutal to the max. Handinpants is in west la near overland and national, another 240 guy on here is named abdul red hatch with red works. hes on venice blvd, and emerson. So you got three cool muthafuckas in that area man. And in a year ill be back there two. Me and my girl both have 240s. So maybe we can start out west la meet finally.

Yeah, get used to the police pullin you over for anything,they used to get me on tint (till i ripped it off), FRONT PLATES, make sure you have one on, this is the usual suspect to pull you over and jerk you around. The cops in my area, (weho) know me now, so I don't get pulled over as much. The Grove is a nice place to hang with the wife. Look on Metromix | Your Restaurants, Nightlife & Events Guide and sign up for there newsletter. They send out e-vites, you rsvp, and get into cool parties for openings and expos,and whatnot, free drinks galore usually and you can see all them 'moviestar' types. They're fun every now and then. Learn side streets. That's always half the fun for me in a new city. You'll learn the traffic times, i.e. 11am-2pm and 8pm-2am are good fwy times.all other times suck. Drink at home and watch movies and play videogames, that's what I do. Oh yeah Coils suck BALLS on L.A. city streets. I'm lookin at getting a daily or just a new ride sans the coils. but nice.
