Just a basic S13 hatch build thread
So about 4 or 5 months ago a friend sent me these pictures of what a few days later became my 1991 240SX hatch (Thanks Amar!)
So it was definitely far from the cleanest 240, but it was rust free and the engine was good (150 compression across all 4 during a cold compression test, more recently 165 across all 4). Ended up only paying $850 for the car. I couldn't bring the car home until I got rid of my miata. So the car sat for about a month at a friends house where I fixed the stuck caliper and threw on some 15" wheels I had laying around from my old Miata as well. When I got the car back to my house I had already acquired all the swap parts to do the manual swap I also had a couple of other things I had ordered as well And a cheap ebay exhaust for a quick fix to there not being an exhaust past the cat from when I got the car The first day that the manual swap started me and my friend Connor got the autotragic trans out but got stuck on the god awful automatic trans adapter bearing thing. I actually got stuck on it for about two weeks before I gave in and bought the harbor freight pilot bearing removal tool Victory! Progress was still a bit slow due to working in a small, unheated 2 car garage late at night after my girlfriend went to bed and working on it at like 1 in the morning. Nearing completion of the swap First time I drove it with the manual trans Found a Type X wing on a local facebook group and jumped on the deal Even though my wasn't that low it was still rubbing on the harness, so I took off the fenders and tucked it Bought some Enkei RP01's for stupid cheap before I even had 5 lug hubs Also got these wheels, have no idea what they are still Got the car up on a lift at a friends work to do some basic maintenance for Drift nirvana Ended up getting canceled though A friend also gave me some free S14 5 lug hubs for the rear of my car And an HUD cluster Decided the night before an event that I wanted to go so I pulled out my old VLSD and weld the open diff I had laying around Today I also got impatient and went to an Infiniti dealer near me that stocks Type X parts and picked up a new bumper Car goes off to paint in a couple weeks after I fix some of the body work and get my side skirts |

Realized I haven't given any updates at all, but not much has changed except for blowing up the dual cam KA a couple of months ago. I did end up doing 2 and a half events with the KA before it gave up though. So instead of putting in another KA or rebuilding the one I have I decided to do a swap.
Ended up getting a great deal on a JZX110 1JZ VVTI with warranty Ended up getting an even better deal on the trans. A good friend of mine put a sequential in his 2J car and I got his old R154, trans mount, driveshaft, extended shifter housing, and a couple of other things for $500. Still need to buy a couple of things at the moment, but the car will 100% be ready for 100DOD at summit point. Then the new suspension and body work can begin. |
