S13 SR20 in an S14 computer question
I just purchased a 96 S14 with an S13 redtop swap in it. I was told that the car has an engine light due to the obd1 and obd2 computer interference and that the car will not pass inspection.
Will putting in a standalone ecu for an S13 take care of all codes? What are my options as far as getting rid of this engine light so the car will pass? Thanks |

No, the car has a check engine light on because the stock ECU is putting out a code for something. That has nothing to do with smog equipment. But your issue will go deeper than that. If NY does OBD2 smog test on your 96, it wont pass. SRs are non-OBD compliant, you cant make it pass a OBD2 test when they try to connect to the ECU via the consult port.

if it isn't being smogged and the only reason you are not passing is because they wont let a car with a check engine light pass, depower your check engine light...
