i got mine back in 2001, a 1997 kouki white with 42k old lady owned for 6k! that was the sweeeeetest moment that happened to my wallet.
i guess the intro of drifting, D1, Formula D, tokyo drift movies and drift PS2 games contribute to its high price. |

i noticed here in the bay area that the 240s prices are dropping drastically. drifting is dying out here. i see a handful of s14s for $3500
to $4000 nowadays. automatics go for less. s13s are half of that. i figure not many of those kids who buy it can keep up with the maintanance of these cars or the sr20det craze got run over by the law.( as in they found out its not legal or got ref tickets) i also see FDs for sale! ohg so many for 5K less than i saw them for sale a year ago. my assumption is that they are saving up for the r35? yes no i duno. i should be studying =P |

You gotta pay to play. If you want to be apart of the most balling group of drivers you gotta pony up the dough.
I'll sell you my 96 Auto discounted at $8k PM if interested. |

Please dont classify the honda community with "ricers" who jumped on the rice jock of the nissan crowd. Since attaining my first nissan after putting it off for 10 years, most of the popular threads concern how the new trend is bosuku (I have yet to see one bosoku civic), stretched tires, color matched, or theme matching zip ties, half assed done engine swaps, unpainted aero, etc. I have seen a GRANDIOSE amount of what you consider "riceboy civic" behavior being exhibited through the nissan crowd, tons of people "drifting" in the streets, strobe light's etc. Every car group of enthusiasts have their own swag, deal with it. That's the kind of non progressive attitude the automotive culture doesn't need regardless of whatever elitist attitude you have because "you got your nissan first" Finding an import in general that hasn't been SEVERELY raped by it's previous owner is godamned near impossible, and on top of the ridiculous "drift tax" that we have to pay to transgress into a different branch of the sport or lifestyle/culture or whatever you want to call it. And on top of that to have people who are non encouraging about other people getting into the sport and hobby you love doesn't make it any better. It's bad enough that when we try to search for information on these cars to fix minor things you have 10 dicks ready to jump into a thread saying "SEARCH" without double checking the shit they forward to you to see that sites that used to have FAQ's and shit up are all unregistered domains like the ss14 domain. I come from the "honda" crowd and I wanted a rwd platform to work on since I only had experience with fwd and I want to try something new, and my budget really doesn't entail the 4WD market since those are all 30 thousand plus dollar expenditures. I love the body style and the culture that comes along with it and hope to build just as nice as a vehicle as my civic and give back to the community with how to's with "PICTURES" and lend a helping hand to other people fortunate enough to join our racing culture. In closing, please don't be a fucking prick, in short is all i'm asking. Thanks, Wayne

This will be the ultimate reason why Im leaning more and more not to go back to an S-chassis. Keep an eye out for my car in 3 yrs, bringing everything back minus the chassis so I can fucking sell everything stateside.
Im going Z33...this S-chassis overpriced and ganked left/right crap is getting fucking ridiculous... |

A car is worth as much as a buyer is willing to pay for it. Drifting craze sky rocket the value of the 240sx. F&F did have a bit to do with just a bit even though the silvia wasn't the main car. It did however base the movie on drifting and the 240sx is the cheap and easy to work on and not to mention endless aftermarket support.
You guys think we have it bad, just look at the Supra's value since F&F1 came out. |

this man speaks truth. i bought my 98 kouki 77k for 6,200. old woman, first owner. she has kbb printouts as her guide for pricing. i had to search craigslist, autotrader, and the forums on a daily basis, and be willing to travel 100+ miles to find it, but the car was worth it to me. the deals are there, you just have to be diligent in how you approach it

An old man once told me, nothin is too exspenive as long as you think it is worth it. I wouldnt pay more than 3500 for a 12 year old car unless it looked like it just came off the showroom floor. But query to the entire thread, if you had to pay 8000 to get a car that you really really wanted in pretty good condition wouldnt you do it, even if everyone told you it was stupid?

I couldn´t agree more with you. Let me give you a run down of what happened south of the border:
the S13 was only sold officially on 93 and the S14 on 98. After F&F and it´s multiple installments the demand for S chassis cars was increased drastically but the one problem here is that the supply is not that big to keep up with it so you see POS S13`s being sold for no less than $5000 (yep, that´s dollars) and S14´s nearing the $10K. Maybe it doesn´t seem that different of what you are experiencing up there but take into account that replacement parts are hard to find here and let´s not talk about aftermarket so we have a bunch of beater cars that you are going to suffer to maintain being sold for a premium. Interesting fact: the official number of S14´s sold here in Mexico is 500 of which only 10% are M/T. |

excuse me but i want my car that ive invested in so much to be worth 10k+ I dont need some jackass retard wanting it to be worth 500$ as a 'bargain sports car'.
So hah! We should be happy as 240 owners that our car's values goes up imho... look at hondas and acuras, no matter what kind of piece of shit they are, they always are 4000+ |

Think of it as an expensive hooker.
You pay a lot because she is in high demand, sexy, and beauties of her kind are in short supply. Plus lets face it you know you're just going to beat the hell out of her anyways to get your jollies off. Also... just like getting with a hooker, a 240 will not get you the ladies... Unless you're like Richard Gere... no not the hamster deal. Getting a hooker and being all courteous with her and buying her useless shit and never getting full hooker satisfaction from her. haha

Thing is we all want back all the money we invested in our buckets. I paid $2700 for a salvage title 89 Coupe just cause the Seafoam two tone paint.
Have another $3k in motors (built SOHC only), some suspesnion, and 4 wheel big brakes....can't sell it with a spare motor and a shit ton of goodies for $3900. MY asking price keeps dropping cause I need it gone. A local guy was asking $27,000 for his RB26 91 S13. Made 750whp and won HIN two years in a row. |

out where i live in Tenn you can find older imports for really decent deals because all the redneck fuckers have no clue what they are and have no use for them if they did. i picked my 89 S13 that ran with minor front end damage for $300 and it was fully complete and unmolested with original window sticker and papers. i got a even better deal on my second car a 87 RX7 Turbo II. i found it in some guys front yard with 96,XXX miles on it and a burnt out ecu. it also has everything mint inside and out (faded paint) with the original window sticker and papers. best part is i got it for free!! just to get it out of the dudes yard, it needs some electric work and probily a engine rebuild but for free i'll take it.

dont forget that asking price is not always the selling price!
but I dont think 240's are overpriced, theyre is not a lot in the market to compete with them for fun easy to maintain rwd fun besides bimmers (not cheap to maintain) and rx7s (not as reliable) and miatas (girly car lol) and mr2s (rare and even more overpriced).

well the 240sx i seen all going around here mostly have engine swap so it like 4000 up but stock ones with engine problems and such goes for around 1500 and up and for some reason every car that has rwd that are for sell there is the phrase"makes great drift car" wtf why is that but me i bought a 240sx shell manual trans with rare color paint(silver greenish) mud flaps and such also good body condition for like 200 and i bought this other 240sx auto all messed for like 600(have no ideal why...) |
