you just have to find the type you like. ie: I love the dark, scary, I am gonna eat kittens for breakfast type od DnB and DUBstep the darker the better.

others like atmospheric dubstep, trance, I like
hard gouse. not jazzy soulful house.

see?

Its definitely not for everybody. Dubstep is in a sharp decline too. Like a lot of genres, it peaks just before dying.

I like really filthy dub, and the majority of what I listen to borders more on "rapstep" than anything. Tons of synth and super deep bass and long basslines are the way to go IMO, Like Mimosa, Rusko, and Chrispy for example

Heres a new guy I just found on New Dubstep Music They have a lot of good newer music from across the country so its definitely a good place to bookmark and check every once in a while when you want something new.
Butch clancy Dubstep - Tracks - SoundCloud
I like the way his intros lead up the ridiculous drops, and his breaks are usually pretty on point. His songs are pretty filthy from beggining to end and not very many Djs try to pull of mixing that many genres (Neckbreakers anthem for example). This is pretty much the only style of dubstep I can stand. Too housey, trancey or anything like that and I am immediately turned off.

Here is a small 4 song EP DL from him with the Rihanna and a Sean kingston remix on it.
Butch Clancy Diary Of A Stateside Steppa zip

And some videos just for good measure. But go on his soundcloud and listen to Butch clancy Dubstep - Buddy Holly-Everyday (Butch Clancy Remix) - SoundCloud and Butch clancy Dubstep - The Nod Factor - SoundCloud. (BTW If anybody can figure out how to embed that cool little player here on Zilvia I would be juiced. Please LMK if you figure out a way.)

Until then on to the vids

You see, the fusion of Hiphop and Dubstep is exactly what I don't like about a lot of new dubstep. Snoop Dogg Millionaire was a dark dark day for dubstep, shame on Chase and Status for that one. I love the British sound of Dubstep, and a lot of the American produced HH influeced Dubstep just doesn't sound right to me. Slightly cheap/generic maybe? Its as if urban music has to be associated with someone rapping (badly) over the top. Thats not to say there's not very talented US producers, Diplo's remix of Starstruck is absolutely on point, and his remix of Four Floors is one of my favourite dubstep tracks ever. And there's a hell of a lot of guilty UK producers taking the easy/obvious way out of making generic dubstep for the masses. Like Pendulum, Rusko doesn't get much love over here anymore for being far too formulaic. If he changed it up and evolved his music with the fans, he'd probably still be on top!

This is the kind of stuff I'm complaining about:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJA-pmDtgvA

So predictable - generic dubstep with bad west coast emcee over the top.

Then theres the guys actually taking a risk and producing some really interesting music (I know these are on more of a chillout tip, but they're the quickest examples to hand):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQoQirZwxE4

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qiqGhbeagY

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nHe5NwYY4Sg

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oOT2-OTebx0

The last track is a bit cross-genre, but the chorus bassline and beat formation allow it to slip into a dubstep set quite nicely. Compare it to the Rass Kass track I posted

Glad you like him too, I was pretty stoked to stumble across him. I just googled his name and actually found that I could download some of his songs from links on youtube comments.

Although that stuff you posted was super chill its by far closer to dubstep than that rass kass bullshit ou posted as an example. First of all I dont like rass kass's regular music. and the fact that he sunk low enough to even try and attempt biting on such a recognizable genre as dubstep makes melike him even less. I honestly wouldnt call that "background music" any kind of anything, lol. Its not HH or dubstep. Its just plain crap.
The examples I posted are the closest i like my dubstep to come to rap basically remixed rap songs with dirty synth and a lot of bass. But whne i just want something to listen to and kick back i like some of the slower smoother stuff.
Almost reminds me of sneaker pimps. Which I like.

Can't say I'd heard of Ras Kass before he polluted dubstep, but Plastician did a mixtape featuring a few of his works, and similar tracks, and it was really disappointing considering he'd pioneered the original sound for so long!

I like the two tracks above

Nero just did an absolutely amazing 2 hour essential mix for Radio1 recently.

Download link here:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=OEG4NBO8

Its at the commercial end of the spectrum, and crosses in to electro and jungle, but this takes nothing a way from it. Really really good.

Don't get me wrong, I definitely like Hiphop. I just don't like a lot of Hiphop infused Dubstep. Saying that, Grime MCs on dubstep sound right at home seeing as they're so closely related.

Not feeling the beat on that Krillionaires track, but its not too bad, I've definitely heard worse!

Excision has become one of my favourites

I think some people said they don't like the rap-influenced dubstep, but the beats in this song are addictive

Dubstep is overrated.. First trance, pro trance, house, hardhouse,uk hardhouse, dnb now dubstep.
Its like the replacement of everyone doing the shuffle.

Apart from Hardhouse (lol), all the above genres are doing well in this part of the world? Its only the fickle masses and moderate-music-fans that latch on to a semi-underground genre, bringing it to the mainstream, before getting bored and moving on. (Usually because the genre has been flooded by watered down commerically viable tracks during its brief stay in the charts).

The Excision and Datsik tracks just sound like soulless wobbly brostep to me

This disgruntled blogger sums up my thoughts pretty well:

Im hoping people silence dubstep because its retarded.
I love dnb but I always have had a passion for progressive trance. Mat zo, myle and shane54, pulsedrive, andy moor, john 00 flemming, above and beyond, artic moon, cold blue. Eddie halliwell I liked and matt darey but they went soft after their popularity.
