ls coils on sr20..
OK, ive searched a ton and am still confused. All i could find were threads with pics/explanations that were very unclear. (To me, anyways.)
Can anybody lead me in the right direction? If youve done the conversion, maybe help me out with detailed pics of your setup? |

I planned to do it, but didn't. Here is what i found :
You want ls2 coils, they have an integrated amplifier and are negative triggered, so you need to remove the amplifier from the sr20 system. Ideally you also need to alter dwell time, it is around 1.5ms stock and LS coils require around 5ms. If you don't change that, it means you are driving them at a third of what they need to be fully charged, so it will work but you can lose the spark with high boost. This is a parameter in the ECU that can be changed by a tuner. |

If somebody made a plug in ignitor delete, and a pre wired coil pack harness, I'd do it. otherwise it's not worth the trouble to me.
Actually if someone just made plug in ignitor deletes I'd just run Z33 coil packs since they plug in to the sr20 coil pack harness and are a lot better. |

From what I've read, you actually need to un pin the ignitor connectors, on both ends, and connect the right wires?
Couldn't I find a female and male connector and just pin those with the ignitor wires and bam. Connect them? I've seen the wiring for the ignitor and it seems fairly simple But as far as wiring in a relay. Is it a must? A lot of threads on this topic have pics that no longer work. So I'm confused |

The only problem is I don't believe a plug exists that matches the male plugs on the ignitor itself, or we just haven't been able to find one. Been looking into this with a friend and the only thing we've came up with is creating a dummy ignitor out of a bad one, or chopping off the male plugs from the ignitor case itself and trying to create a jumper harness with them. But yes if we somehow created a "jumper" harness, the re wire would be done through that jumper, without touching the harness side wiring of the plugs.
This is how it would be wired, just like deleting the ignitor plugs themselves. Wiring them "straight across" is incorrect, as Irving found out in his thread. |

Ok but say the ignitor wires are the same gauge size as and crimp style as... say the consult plug wires on the dash harness. Couldnt you just take two male consult connectors and make a jumper harness.
And then get two female consult connectors, unpin both ignitor connectors and replace them with the consult connectors? And ive read that i need to get an sr20 coil connector. Im assuming the female end? And then unpin the ls coilpack harness connector and pin those wires in to the sr coilpack connector to be able to just plug it in to the engine harness? |

LS2 cpils have over dwell protection, and will randomly self discharge.... meaning, advanced timing. oops.
Do not run them over 4ms at 14 volts. We limit them to 3.5 to 3.7ms. MANY motors have been ruined by overdwelling these coils. |

So has anybody found a male plug that is the same as the male ends of the ignitor? So that we can make a plug and play jumper harness.
