Replaced knock sensor, mounted it on the Intake Manifold.

My old knock sensor apparently got cracked so I bought a replacement. Installing the new one back on the block is a royal pain so I found a place on the intake manifold where the knock sensor fit quite nicely. in fact, it fit so perfect that you'd think it was supposed to be there to begin with (see the pic, sensor is right in the middle of it)

will the knock sensor still detect knocks when they happen even when it's mounted on the intake manifold?

ps: stock ka24de on a '95 s14.

Negative. Mount it in the proper place please. For your own piece of mind.

You are probably better off not even using a knock sensor than mounting it this way.

It's not going to read Knock on your intake manifold lol... Put it on the block and be done with it.

Unfortunately it won't. Found that the hard way. Good thing you decided to return the knock sensor before it knocks you out, lol. I know it's corny.

Yeah I did... went to Home Depot and bought a 2ft flexible screw grabber and a 3/8th drive extension. After 30 mins of fishing I managed to mount the sensor back to its original location. The trick was to secure the socket to the drive with tape and to drop a piece of magnet into the socket to keep the screw from falling out. After that it was a piece of cake
