Why doesn't my passenger side get the badass angle that my drivers side does?

When drifting at full right lock the passenger wheel will sometimes go over center to where the tie rod hits the bump stop, and then I have a bitch of a time pulling out of it.

However when at full left lock, the tie rod is already on the bump stop with way more angle, and I can pull out of it just fine every time...

Thinking about getting George's passenger side rack extension and re centering, would that fix it?
Try re-centering the steering rack. My guess is that is the problem right there. You're getting to the point where you have enough angle with the stock knuckles to start over-centering. I'd suggest looking at modified knuckles if you start needing more angle.

Also, what happen to matt?

I have an issue of Drift Tengoku with an article about different drivers' knuckle setup. Nakamura's is featured and it has a pretty good shot of his front suspension. I'll see if I can scan and post it.

The one on the left is going on the inside of the FLCA, the one on the right is going to be used in their other multi-link parts. They are machined from billet.

I see you have been lurking on my site = )

Correct the LCA type adjuster will have to be adjusted with the rod end unbolted from the car to bring the LCA ultimate strength. Other arms will get the double adjuster that lets you change the length on the vehicle.

Yes the prototypes were machined from billet. That process really takes almost impossible amounts of time and money and for production parts we have invested in forging dies for all of these parts. I hope you guys can appreciate this process & what we are putting into the 2011 parts line up and understand why we are taking our time on the release. I know you guys have been frustrated.

These are like the clamping rod ends you would see on custom pro off road rigs & trophy trucks. Only the companies that sell that stuff for the off road guys use sand casted steel parts. Our production parts will be forged with a 100% CNC machined finish. This clamping design was implemented because they don't come loose. Now I dont go around telling people that our stuff is the best, I let them make their own educated decisions on what to buy...

But this time around I really have to say, the 2011 Parts Shop MAX multilink will be the best, strongest, highest quality, and most stylish parts available. Not just the market for 240sx, we are really exceeding the standards of any parts I have have seen for any vehicle.

This standard carries on into the forged clamping nuts and CrMo one piece taper rods we have developed as well (not pictured).

You can see that we have added quite a bit of thread overlap and range of adjustability to the new parts as well as increasing the surface area of the bearing side spacer.

Thanks for your patience and support, we should have some more interesting announcements coming soon regarding the MAX 2011 multilink.

Found some more pics of Nakamura's S13, and it clearly retains some ackerman, as seen here:

Hahaha, good one.

I'll be extending them 10 or 15mm. Adding negative camber with the LCA's means I will be able to adjust my caster by flipping my camber plates. I'll be doing some testing that's for sure. Cutting and extending them outside the tension rod mount points also gives me a little more clearance for more angle.

Just found this Drift Tengoku scan of a knuckle comparison article. Maybe someone can find a better version and someone to translate? I'm wondering what the sweep graphs are...

The direction we are going brings more range of adjustment and its less expensive to replace the bearing than to replace a rod end in the future.
No one makes anything exactly like it. The use of forged materials throughout, the one piece integration of the clamps (this is really hard to make), the unique dust covers and side spacers, its all just us doing things our own way trying to be thoughtful about adding the best features you cant find anywhere else.

Poorman that's totally sweet! Thanx for the pix.

DC Dan what kind of replacement cost range will the bearings be? Will you reccomend a bearing change interval? I'm loving the PBM new parts, keep it up!

Any info on what they're doing in that top picture? Just boxing it in with super thick steel, or is it solid steel that's threaded?

While I appreciate what you're doing, are you guys doing any actual R+D or stress analysis when it comes to your 'own' bearing setup?

I hate to sound like a doubter, but with their already being companies in existence that create/manufacture Rod ends that are PLENTY strong, I really don't see the cost savings and or 'business' perspective beyond doing it all yourself other than to create a product that is totally one off just 'because'.

I have nothing against making exclusive repair and or replacement parts, but if there is anything I can assure you, it's that in our business (truck repair) there is nothing more frustrating than dealing with some companies who design things to be different just because they can(Mack for example)

Everything I've seen from PSM has been engineered from the racer's perspective (give them what they want, built it big enough until it doesn't break) and I've never seen/heard of their joints breaking. Great rod ends are extremely pricey, good (enough) rod ends can be made for pennies on the dollar. The LCA ball joints are the only thing I can think of that would be really stressed, and need to be a truly high quality part.
