Thanks man. I noticed a sketchy group of people driving by my place a week or so ago. Had a buddy's civic get jacked and he found it all mashed and mangled out in North Park, which is just yards from where I live. So I'm going to be going around checking things out over in that area and hoping for something good.

No news of it yet. Haven't gotten any hints either. Apparently next Tuesday is when my insurance will call it a lost cause. Even then, I'd still want to find my car and see what the damage was. See what it was that really caught their eyes.

Hi. I am Mikey's wife and I wanted to let every one know that this car has been recovered. It was found abandoned in October and taken to a tow yard 3 blocks away from my place of work. Since he is in Afghanistan at the time, I took care of tracking the car down. Geico sent it to the insurance auto auctions. I hired a broker and I bid on the car when it was auctioned off on 12/3. We received a settlement for $2,350 from Geico in June and I got the car at the auction for $700. With fees and all, I paid $909. Unfortunately, Geico slapped a Salvaged title on it, even though when I inspected it at the towyard it was untouched mechanically. I don't plan to ever resell this car so the title won't make a difference for me. I have it insured and it has passed all the tests for registration. They only took the bike rack, radio and GPS unit. Here are some pictures when I tracked it down at the tow yard in October and when I fed her some good ol' V-Power at shell when I picked her up today from the auto auctions. I drove it back home myself and she ran like a champ, as if happy she was finally bailed out.
We have had this car since we were in high school. I guess the purpose of my message is to say that, for those who got their car stolen and have an emotional attachment to it...don't give up. Now to give her some much needed TLC. |
