Ganador Disassembly
SUPER EDIT!
i don't need disassembly anymore, just pulled the glass away, the threaded shit is plastic however the glass seems to be separating from the adhesive backing which attaches it to the plate that goes on the motor. anyone know of any material i can use to have it stick back on? it looks like its just a smooth-adhesive foam, but i don't know if that means i can use anything and it will reflect or if its special google doesnt really help

i dont know if this goes for all automotive glass, but the blue ganador glass is see through. it doesn't have the silver backing like most mirrors do, it uses the adhesive i guess, cause when i peel it back i can see straight through it.
so if i use double sided tape, like the 3m red tape, i'll be able to see the strips. idk, it seems pretty weird though

heres a pic for whats happening
the reason its bothering me is cause you can see the reflection distorted through the glass cause the adhesive peeled back a little. so its bubbled and shit, hard to explain and hard to take a picture of

but with a functioning mirror at least i can pretend
Enemy, apoxy or epoxy? i came across 'apoxy' during a search and figured it was a typo. Like i said, the glass is pretty much see through so if i use some type of glue i'll be using the glue as the reflector. Its not blue mirror, its blue tinted glass with a shiny black adhesive thing pretty much i'll try to take better pics some time, but i don't want to remove the glass without anything to replace it with, incase i can't do anything about it

if you're that anal about it, take the mirrors to a glass shop and have them cut you new glass with actual mirror on the back side... like a regular usdm mirror.
and if you're super anal, get some light blue window tint to cover the exposed side! |

i wouldn't consider it anal, i just don't want the glass to come off during use and break. blue-tinted clear glass is shit, reflection isnt clear.
and no shit sherlock, i could just take it to a shop but thats not the point. i'd much rather fix what i have

I had a similar issue with my set...the glass completely came off and fell on the freeway, I ended up buying the reps on Ebay after realizng how much money I had wasted for what I thought was superior quality, I would suggest using this double sided tape since its super durable and meant to deal with extreme weather and is rated for outdoor use, it may only be a temporary fix but I would suggest a liquid type glue meant for glass as a permanent solution. I use this tape for my spoilers and wings and it has always held up for years in the rain and it held my CF window spoiler to the glass for a long time now:

Why cant you just put epoxy on the sides of the mirror to hold them together. I hope you understand what i mean. Also i would trace the mirror to some poster board so in case you break it you can go to a mirror shop and make a copy.

Ah OK, I thought you were getting that set from Matt that was super clean. That sucks dude...
I think Matt has a source for blue tint Ganador replacement glass. Might be worth shooting him a PM and asking him about it- he mentioned it to me recently. |
