S14 knock sensor help please
nissan 96 knock sensor - Product Details
Does anyone trust this. I'm low on money right now but I have to buy other stuff will this do the job at least for a good year? I need to figure out whats causing me to loose the gas that I'm loosing. I'm planning on changing plugs and oil the same time as the knock sensor. So does anyone think it's a good idea to buy this??? |

I bought a new knock sensor on eBay last year for a very low price or around $12 with shipping.
Did the job fine - didn't look any different to the one that it replaced to be honest. If you are strapped for cash just get this one: NISSAN KA24DE 2.4L SR20DE 2.0L VQ30DE 3.0L Knock Sensor US $7.79 FREE - Standard Shipping It's not too bad to change as long as you have a wobble bar extension set - you can get cheap Chinese sets at Harbor Freight if you need some. When you say lose gas do you mean you have a leak or it's just disappearing? If you have a leak check the tank around the area of the support strap on the passenger side - they have a known defect where they crack. Big job to change unfortunately, as I've just gone through the very same problem |

Thanks very informative.
I bought the 20 dollar one already. It should last me atleast te year. The thing with my gas, I have no idea. To tell you the truth, I noticed my fuel go away faster when I installed my 2 10in sub (I'm not claiming its my sub) but I would take my sub out every few days, then my gas was normal. It's odd I thought maybe the added weight caused the drop in gas. So I chose to run one 10 sub to reduce the weight of the box and extra sub. The gas was a little better but still loosing gas faster than without. Next I got an exhaust, stock piping size, but with a megan muffler. Gas dropped a lot. Now at this point I'm thinking it was the exhaust. But I thought exhaust would help gas. Next I tune my sub for more power. Gas goes down some more. The point I'm getting across is why is my gas going away so fast. My car feels fine when I drive. I shift before 2k going almost slower the speedlimit. I have codes p1445 and p0325 and I had them for a year withought fixing them. Has anyone had this experience. At all. I got my car bone stock a year ago and I use to push it hard, and I still saved more gass than I do now driving slower than speed limit. I only have an exhaust and a k&n drop in air filter. I can check for a tank leak but I don't see gas on the floor when I park (unless I leaks while driving) |

P0325 = KNOCK SENSOR
P1445 = Purge volume control valve circuit. On my car, I experienced high gas consumption when the O2 sensor gave up a few years back. I can't see that your subs would be causing a significant rise in fuel consumption unless they weigh like a ton each... Found this over at Nico: Quote:

So update
WITH MY SUB, I would drive FROM carson, all the way TO la mirada and BACK. I would estimate about 20% of my tank. TODAY I take out my sub. I drove FROM Carson, To La Mirada, then TO Disneyland, BACK to La Mirada, then BACK to Carson allll under 20% of my tank. Doesn't this sound odd??? It's definetly not the weight of the sub. My thought it's that maybe my crappy battery I got from auto zone can't handle the amp and sub??? Maybe it sucked to much battery making my car run like SH!T?? Could the sub make the alternater work harder thus making the engine have drag, idk I'm still sorta lost. Oh and thanks for the code help! |

Post Whore!

First off, your sub has nothing to do with the amount of fuel you're consuming. Have you done a tune up anytime or at all? Have you checked base timing and adjusted it back into factory spec? Changed fuel filters and check/changed plugs, air filter, oil?
Thinking that having boom boom in your trunk is increasing your fuel consumption, is a bit on the far fetched side.
