I know Memphis has to be PISSED that they're not in the Eastern Conference, where they belong.

I wonder if Knick fans want to leave a burning bag full of poo at Z-Bo's door step. Had he been playing this consistant in NY a few years back, he might have still been on their roster and would have helped them out with Boston. Then again Dantoni doesn't like big body post up guy's that can get you 20 and 13 a night, does he? I would love to see the Magic vs Bulls in the second round. The only problem is that Orlando only plays well when they are hitting 3's. I don't see them having another game like lastnight unless Atlanta helps them out with those terribad rushed shots. Josh Smith, Joe Johnson and Jamal Crawford remind me a Lebron in late game situations, no ball movement and stupid long jumpers when you can just make a pass or drive. Only difference is that they shoot it with 18 seconds left on the clock while Lebron holds the ball until 2 seconds on the clock. |

I am also of the opinion that Miami didn't do themselves any favors by letting Philly be as close as they were in all 5 games either. That series had no business being as close as it was. Same goes for the Lakers... They're supposed to cut the shit at the beginning of the playoffs, that is how they've always done. I am less confident in their chances this year if they don't emasculate New Orleans again tonight. Dallas... lol The fork is still in San Antonio, and with that, their window slams shut after this season. Time to blow up the roster and rebuild. It's been an amazing run, guys.

I'm fine with Miami having lost one game to Philly in the first round. If they would have blown through them Spo would not have changed anything for the second round, hell Eddie House was sure not to get playing time had we blown through them. Philly is young and very athlectic, even during the season they were in every game we played them because they just keep pushing. The first round is made for adjustments, 1 loss doesn't really say anything bad about your team much like a sweep doesn't exactly mean you're winning a championship, just ask Cleveland. Either way as long as L.A plays Dallas in the second round they should have no problem getting the the WCF. If they end up against Portland it may be harder but possible.

Not worried about Dallas OR Portland, to be totally honest.
Brandon Roy has so much in the tank at the end-game in Dallas because he does not have to mind a Kobe Bryant-caliber offensive player (similar to himself) when he plays defense, nor does he have a Ron Artest-caliber defender draping himself all over him when he plays offense. That said, Dallas would be hamstrung by those SAME shortcomings(and SHOULD miss Caron Butler, damn what Mark Cuban says), plus a lack of length in the frontcourt that EVERY team in the league other than LA’s Varsity team (heheh) lacks, and most TRIED to adjust for this past off-season. At current, as far as teams coming out of the West that pose enough matchup problems to lend any genuine concern to, the only one who plays enough of the kind of offense and defense to stop and worry about (as a fan… as a player/coach, you need to lend FULL attention until you’re at the championship parade) in the Western Conference is OKC. Seriously

What do you guys think of the new rules that are planning to be enforced next season (if there is one)? There will be a change in the goaltending rules, as well as 1 less timeout per team - Sterns idea of making this a faster paced game with more dunks.

Sorry, here is a link Stern Favors International Goaltending Rule - RealGM Wiretap
If it's on the rim, you can swat it away. If it's coming off the backboard, you can swat it away. If it's coming off the backboard and entering the hoop, you can't swat it away. |

Yeah, that goaltending rule will make Dwight Howard the Defensive Player of the Year for the rest of his career, MVP next year and for the forseeable, and push the scores of games back up to the level that we saw and loved in the 80s.
Take away a full and a 20 in the second half (or 4th quarter, whenever the fuck it resets), and it speeds the game along as well, I like that. These might be the ONLY two rules in the whole of the Stern era that I agree with.

At age 25 D12 has been defensive player of the year 3 years in a row. It's pretty safe to say that he will win it every year no matter what. Well unless Ron Artest finds his inner "Warden" and starts locking people down like he would do in his Indy days. I'm pretty sure Howard won't win MVP though, thats gonna go to the new face of the NBA Derrick Rose. I'm sure he will win it 2 more years before they switch to KD.

Ron Artest is my age, and hence on the downside of his career, he is cool with having made his money and won championships, now he is around and playing at the level he is at to be a public enough figure to continue to raise mental health awareness.
He admits it, so the old Ron Artest is not coming through that door, lol. Let Dwight Howard collect fewer technicals and damn near average a points/rebounds/blocks triple double AND remain a credible threat in the playoffs and he will win an MVP. I am still of the opinion that Derrick Rose wins the MVP and earned it this year. In fact, I am 100% on the post season awards that matter so far [link], and I do not see that changing.

The look on Chris Paul's face for the last half of the 4th quarter suggests that he will not be in New Orleans for ANY longer than necessary...

I'm not the kind of person to go by body language during and tough playoff loss, D-Wade has had that same look for the past 4 years. I can see Chris Paul staying in NO. Who is to know that they wouldn't have played better with David West on the floor? Plus he won't have many options on where he wants to go since it is almost a sure thing that the new CBA will make it almost impossible to join a contender. I know Knicks fans are doing the Lebron dance for Chris Paul in 2012 but unless he's planning on getting paid a little more than MLE money it won't be happening in NY. He did say that he would look into joining the Bobcats for a chance the play for MJ but I don't see that happening unless D12 is going with him. The summer of 2012 should be interesting.
If anyone is on their way out, it's D12. Otis Smith took a ECF team and turned them into a first round knockout. Plus they are stuck with Agent washed up and way over the LT. They have no chance at building at this point. Last edited by Riq; 04-28-2011 at 09:46 PM.. |

Just found this quote of a Danny Ainge interview:
"I wish I had an answer to that one," Ainge said. "He looks better today. There's progress. We're still hopeful that he'll be ready to play but it's just taking longer to heal, or taking a while to heal. Shaq was determined to play Game 1 of the first playoff series and it's just not been that way. He could probably go out and something but I'm not sure he could help much." Asked if Shaq could play 12 minutes at this point, Ainge said, "Right now he could not give us 12 minutes. We want Shaq healthy. If Shaq could give us 12 minutes in the first game without jeopardizing the following game he would probably be out there doing that but he's not ready to do that yet." Translation: Shaq is no where close ready to play. WOW! I am still wondering why they traded away Perk.... |

Only the Knicks would be thinking they need more offense. And save me the "oh but we're NY" argument (see Cliff Lee).
Chris Paul is not leaving the Hornets. (1) Leaving is not the only option. Players can easily join him. (2) The Hornets have a solid defense oriented foundation to build on (sorry NY, you don't) (3) I hear strong rumblings of a franchise tag being proposed in the next CBA for the NBA. That whole speeding up the game by taking out timeouts is crap. This is as moronic as instituting the horn for timeouts this year. Its not the teams that are delaying the game, its actually the broadcasters. Many times they will not start play after a timeout until the broadcast is resumed while teams stand around and wait. Hawks/Bulls, huh. Who would thunk it? This better be good. I heard the Magic/Hawks series was good and competitive but didn't bother to watch it. Guess I was wrong on the Magic being able to turn it on. They only did it once (Game 5) and that's it. I expect Dallas to choke in the next round and possibly see a fight or two from the built up animosity amongst the two sides since the last meetings. Lets see what happens with Grizzlies/Spurs, but I must say its not looking good for the Spurs. And something I didn't comment on before, I hope the Kings go to Seattle if anywhere and hope that Buss has enough influence to prevent them from moving to LA. Because 3 teams the LA vicinity is moronic.

There has been no official announcement yet...
Hell, the Rookie of the Year is not announce yet either. I mean, we know it will be Blake Griffin and Derrick Rose, but let's not get ahead of ourselves.
