Getting into the drifting scene

Hey guys! I might be getting an s14 zenki soon. I'm new to Nissan's, but not to cars. I own a Honda right now and I am in search of a job so I can get rid of it. I want to start drifting, but I am a beginner. When I manage to get enough money what would be the best way to start (I already know of the drift bible) and what are some starter mods?

Try to go to a track like Willow Springs or something.

1. bucket seat
2. LSD
3. coilovers

you will be able to do a lot with those 2 things.

Get yourself a real differential. None of that welded bullshit that 90% of "daily drifters" are using.

Guys no sarcasm. I wasn't one of those Honda ricers. I want to spend very little to start just to see if I like drifting. If I do, which I most likely will, I will spend more. If I don't I will use it as more of a track car. It's going to be my daily driver as well

It makes it so that you don't have to hold down the release button on the e-brake handle to get it to unlock. Then you can pull your e-brake and just let go, rather than holding the release button all the way down. It's kinda hard to concentrate on making sure your e-brake is all the way down right after initiating a drift. You've got more important shit to concentrate on at that point.

@young sileighty kev of course, its a sin not to have wide crazy wheels on a drift car lol.

@skull&bonez trust me the more mods your car has and the more its set up for drifting the better, it will be way more controllable and your gonna but down some way nicer drifts. if you are afraid of breaking aftermarket parts that you bought, then drifting is not for you, crashing is part of drifting!

Not a single smart person in this thread.
A kid that wants to learn how to drift? hmmm, NO!
You don't just get up and decide to drift. It won't get you anywhere.
Most important thing is to learn grip driving. Spend a couple of days on track or mountains and learn the car and what RWD is all about.
Bucket seat is very good investment
after you spend some time with factory diff, look into clutch LSD
Keep learning grip driving, about 5 track events will do good.
Then at the 5th event practice on turns with plenty of run off. Try going in real fast and brake hard and late. Let the car initiate its own drift, scary but fun and you should learn from this. Couple of power over drifts. Then sign up for drift event and practice other stuffs like e-brake/ feint/ clutch kicks... etc

Boom. Not necessarily in that order - LSD/VLSD is a must though. I would stay away from a welded. If your s14 is a base or has a worn out unit I would definitely start looking around. RESEARCH RESEARCH RESEARCH. Google is your friend. There is a plethora of information about what fits and what doesn't. If you're semi mechanically inclined you will have a good time with this car.
