help with gtir t28, need a retune?
i plan on upgrading my ka-t to a gtir t28, my current setup is a t25/370/n60, and i have an enthalpy ecu tuned for t25/t28/370/n60. Will the tune work for a gtir t28? just asking because it is different for the sr t28. And also will the 370cc injectors be maxed out at 10-12psi? Ive been searching and ive seen one person say they were gunna move to 550 on 12psi, but would like to know the safe boost limit for 370s. thanks

It should run fine with that turbo , however I'm not sure you wanna go 12psi. That has to be dangerously close to maxing 370's. If you had a wideband to keep an eye on the AFR's I'd say try it.

The only way you'll get 280hp out of 370's is to up the fuel pressure and max them out. not really recommended of course. A wideband is the best $200 you'll ever spend on a turbo car.

ill look into a wideband
so i think ill stay at 10psi, should i just go ahead and upgrade to 550s and n62 and new tune or stay with 370s? its either get wideband and stay 370 or 550 with n62 no wideband also whats a good street clutch for ~300tq? exedy stage 2? act street clutch? spec stage 2? thanks Last edited by hdz123; 12-21-2010 at 05:48 PM.. |

you shouldnt need a re-tune. I would only keep it at 9-10 psi mac though. You def need a wideband bro. These KA's are fun but one little thing goes wrong and boom. When i built my KA-T the first thing i bought was an innovate lc-1. Personally i would get some stock STI injectors (yellow top = sidefeed, pink top = top feed.) Then i would get a n62 maf (because IIRC the n60 can only safely read up to about 270hp) Then you get a new set of chips from enthalpy (great choice by the way) install it all and turn it to 12psi.

To be sure, get it retune, the N60 is ok. no need to change it. at 10 psi with a gti-r t28, you should be around 200-220whp. I use to run a GT2560R at 10 psi and these were my numbers. I am still running a N60 and I am now at +300whp but close to be maxed out.

What these guys said...Get a wideband, drive the car, pay attention and then you'll know if you need a retune.
How was your original t25/370/stock maf tune from Enthalpy? Spot on or any problems/performance issues? |

it was on n60 maf, and for some reason the n60 didnt work only a j60 worked for some reason, but it worked real nice til the oil pump took a shit. and 200-220whp on 10psi? thats really low i thought it make around 250whp
so the best thing would be get the 550/n62 then get a wideband to be safe? Last edited by hdz123; 12-23-2010 at 12:59 PM.. |

yeah id get a retune of course, i just sent back my ecu and was deciding on 550/n62 or keeping 370/n60 but im gunna go with 550/n62 just to be safe. then when i get enough money ill get the wideband

When go get ready to buy a wideband i highly reccomend one of these two brands. Based on price and accuracy. I currently run an innovate LC1/XD16 setup

You won't need a returne, but those stock turbo injectors will be 'done' at 7-10 psi at most. Log a run to see duty cycle.

u want fmic, but stock looking engine bay, so i was thinking of using rb intercooler with the stock sr piping and making it fit. is the stock sr piping too small for this setup?

It's not to small, but the intercoolers themselves are the weak point

okay cool, also would running piping behind the front mount make response a lot worse then straight from the throttle body down the battery tray to the intercooler? if its not that big of a deal ill just do this
and should i run 2.5 cold side, 2.25 hot side? ill mod the stock sr sidemount piping if needed to be 2.5 all the way |

Well it does make a difference how long the piping is, but you are talking about a fraction of a second. It's all about the total volume of the piping and intercooler, more volume takes longer to fill up. Those piping sizes are fine either should work. Intercoolers are always a trade off.

so if i run a reverse flow intercooler i should run smaller piping then? i just want to retain the smic piping on a front mount, so that makes sense that the more piping the smaller it should be
