Boost Controller on Power FC....

Is anybody using the boost control feature on their PFC??? Is it worth the extra $$ if you have a PFC? The reason I ask is because Ive notice on alot of pictures of 240's using a PFC, they still have a separate boost controller???? I would think it would look better eliminating some of the electronics cluster in some setups???

Input anyone.............????

I run pfc with boost kit. Works great for me. People run other ones because you can do more with em. I didn't want an external one, because I wanted more of a stealth setup.

What setup are you using, lejetro or dejetro ? Im currious about the boost functions on the power fc too. I have been debating getting on or not.

Where in fayetteville are you ? Military ?

I uses the same MAP and Solenoid from the AVC-R.

I have heard that the Power FC runs better and is easier to tune in PC Commander with the map sensor from the kit hooked up. I would have to find the write up to recall more.

The key thing is that it's basically an AVC-R hard wired to the ECU. You set the desired kg/mm and in self learning mode it will adjust the Boost Duty Cycle(solenoid valve) to operate smoothly with the engine/turbo.

The only reason I think people don't use it is the shear cost. For the same price they can get another cool guage/screen in their car. Or, they can go the real cheap route and get a MBC.

I run Ljetro (~$800) with full boost kit (~$300), got it from [email protected]:
http://zilvia.net/f/group-buys/16035...l-monster.html

I think if you buy the Djetro version, you only need the Solenoid. rhdjapan had one for $150 last I checked.

Its a lot cheaper than a $500 avc-r (at least thats the price I saw)

AVC-R info:
A'pexi AVC-R Boost Controller - Tech - Sport Compact Car Magazine
One feature I know the pfc doesn't have: "allowed to vary with rpm"

PFC you can set 4 boost levels. You set max/target boost in bar, and duty cycle. IF you buy a datalogit, you then can have a 'boost switch' I would assume changes between these 4 settings. I haven't tried it, as I just leave mine at 1.4bar/76% all the time.

p.s. I tried a MBC on my car once, 7psi, turn the dial one click 16psi (on a t25). I was like, nope take it off.

Yea, I'm looking about doing it to my ljetro, but I hear different things about functionality and all that.

I would rather have one less gadget in the car, for sure.

Same thing I was thinking. Ive been told that yes, it would be one less gadget in your car but I wouldnt be as good as say avc-r due to the fact all the avc-r is made JUST for boost, thus having more settings than the PFC boost controller.

I'm perfectly content with the boost control kit on my car. I only need one boost setting, and it hits it every time. It may take a bit of time to get the duty cycle adjusted right for spool vs overshooting target boost. How often do you change your boost settings? Half the people i've seen with AVC-R's dont even know wtf there doing with it anyways.

Yeah, most people I have seen leave the AVC-R in learning mode with only the target boost and max boost. Then let the AVC-R adjust the duty cycle to mach that goal. Which is the exact same thing the PFC BCK does.

What other boost controller will fuel cut to save your ass if you over boost?

I have tuned several of these.

Suprisingly it seems to work even better than the AVCR does.

It's also much easier to set up. You just set the boost and start duty and let it fly.

It's a great closed loop Boost Controller if you already own the Power Fc.

I was in the same situation as you. I had an older blitz SDBC, pulled it out and installed a PFC boost control kit to cut down on the clutter. Works fine, holds 1.4-1.5 bar steady. No spike nor does it tapper off in the end.

Just make sure you get the right kit for your application. The kit is not exactly universal.
