Not much of an update, but we started prepping for paint. The car is actually really straight, front bumper is getting a major overhaul. All my time from when I get home from work is now focused on this, sponsor is still up for paying for paint.

Good news, tired of the car looking like shit.

Not much of an update, again more issues that took more time.

Headed to PARC to get a better feel for the new set-up. Car felt sluggish even on the way to the track. I've waited too long to drift again to just go home, so I said f-it and drifted anyway.

Turns out the turbo let go on the way there:

So a good friend helped me out with a deal on a GT2876r.

Comparison between the GT2871r and the GT2876r LOL

Snug as a bug

Spool time is comparable to the gt2871r .86 version, sucked in the seat at 4200rpms. Running only 14psi for a start, still a little worried about the clutch slipping. But I'll be doing some dyno runs at 20ish psi to see what she makes.

This thread had me stuck when I saw the single cam, but the SR obviously looks more fun. Great build thread!

The setup is originally from FD driver Andrew Coombs.

And massive update.

Ever since building this SR I've had nothing but problems with it. Car would lean out at idle terribly, replaced every part imaginable.

We have now labeled it "Cursed"

Continued to drift when I could.

Some videos:

Hit up more events, always breaking something.

The car continued to run horrible, so I opted for aem ems.
Now to recent events, finally hit the dyno.

Clutch lets go at 16 psi, best I could do was 363.

Take her home and the alternator wiring catches fire and torches most of the lower harness.

So Fix that and replace the lower harness.

Now the front main seal went. This is in the span of 2 days.

So, I replaced the front main, and take her for a spin. More oil is ow coming out of the crank pulley bolt. Pull the pulley off again and the crank is damaged letting oil run out.

No idea how that happened, but that was the final straw. Decided to part out what I could.

Next up, vvti- 1jz swap. Will update as parts roll in.

Are you sure it's not just the pulley? They can wear down where that seal goes causing it not to seal as well. Also important to press those in flat.... I usually use a piece of flat wood with a hole drilled in the middle and carefully hammer it in like that

I'm pretty sure it's not the pulley, I replaced it and the seal looked fine. The damage is on the inside of the pulley and on the crank. It was leaking out of the crank bolt lol.

I have had nothing but bad luck with the SR, so going to try something new.
Here is some of the things that happened last year.

Melted a piston on drift day. shot dipstick out.

gt2871 decides to eat something then grind itself into the compressor housing

Oil squiter on exhaust side on the head BREAKS off, I heard a tapping. YOu can see where it settle next to the timing chain.

Wastegate pipe breaks off gets stuck between frame rail and steering column to where I was forced to turn left only. ahha

Destroyed motor mount on drift day

Don't forget your hood pins!

Sidewall pops off on freeway.

Rack explodes and leaks out inner tie rod for no reason.

Dirft at PIR, oil threads on factory unit break off

Caught fire on the way home from the dyno

Front main explodes

I grenaded 2nd gear and had to replace the trans.
I broke teeth off ring gear
Engine fails after 7k miles on built motor.

So as a little update, I was able to get a good amount from parting out the SR. Ordered some parts:

1jzgte
Tomei PonCams
Picked up some cam gears
PT 6262 t4 68.a/r vband
ebay t4 1j mani
driftmotion dp
driftmotion pulleys
2jz waterpump
550cc injectors
aem ems v2
Wiring will be done by Fiend Performance

Looking at clutch and FW options atm. The next couple of weeks should be fun.

Xcessive 1j mount kit

Getting ready for a new motor!

Getting ready for wiring and hopefully a cage

I had the same thing happen to my tire coming home from a drift weekend. Sidewall just decided it hated the rest of the tire, like 7 miles from home after being on the road for 3 hours. I like this build though.

In the light of the last year, I'm having the chassis and engine harness completely redone. I am getting the wiring done by Fiend Performance.

I look forward to having a very good time with this build. 1j hits the garage on Thursday, along with parts.

1jz arrived today.

I made some progress tearing it down, got the hydro pump off, twins off, and intake mani off. Got the harness ready to go to Fiend Performance as well.

More pics tomorrow.

Ok, started working on the 1j now.

Taking a look, seems there is quite a bit of carbon build up, the cam lobes and journals look fantastic though.

Ditching the twins.

Trying to get the crank pulley off, I threaded in two flexplate bolts and wedged a prybar in there to stop the crank from turning.,,
If you look, the threads didn't get damaged at all. If ever I had any luck, all the bad karma was absorbed into these two bolts. The threaded out of the crank like that!

Eventually got the crank pulley off lol, installed some cam gears and a new timing belt. I'm waiting for the waterpump to show up. With a quick mock up of a small turbo and the new manifold.

Decided after everything was cleaned and the harness off to send to Fiend Performance, I'd throw it in and do a mock up.

Shot of the Xcessive mounts and mount kit.

More coming. Waiting for parts to come!

Seriously waiting for parts, waiting is lame haha.

I was able to get the intake manifold and throttle body cleaned and painted today. I also was able to score some manual doors to make the wiring process easier.

Shit it seems like you have way more room in the bay then any 2J swap I have seen. Did you get our trans bracket to work? I am assuming your using the R154 and so far a few of us haven't had any sucess with the trans bracket install.

Might I suggest the Tomei oil block peice ? I have it and its really nice, cheap to buy also, only like 100 bucks, but you have to relocate your filter, but doing so gives you the option to also run a oil cooler.

I have the GREX oil filter relocate box so I can run -10 for a oil cooler also., but the Tomei peice would take away a lot of wory of that peice breaking again.

love your build, and the vids of you in the PARC, you have really smooth runs, keep up the great work mate
